Catchy New Tune From Future Crib

Having released three albums over the years, Nashville based upstarts Future Crib are starting to look less like a “new” band and more like an established outfit with an ever developing sound. Today I’m happy to share with you this new single “Most Likely Never Going to Die” which is a delightful piece of indie pop music worthy of being compared to the early days of a band like Mystery Jets. It’s an incredibly catchy pop diddy that can certainly be in consideration for your summer playlist.

Future Crib will release this song on their upcoming fourth album entitled Full Time Smile due out September 10th. Pre-orders are up on bandcamp now.

Fleece Share Thumping New Single

Montreal based rockers Fleece shared this new tune “Bodie Lie” yesterday, and though I may be a bit tardy in my posting, I think you’ll find the song to be completely irresistible. Coming from their upcoming 3rd album entitled Stunning and Atrocious, the song can fool the listener a bit as it begins as a sort of slow, melodic, almost folk tune, but then truly drops about a minute in to really give us something fierce. Love the percussion work on this one and continue to find new things to enjoy after each and every listen.

The new album, Stunning and Atrocious, will drop on August 20th.

Stream New Jesse Marchant Album

Canadian born musician Jesse Marchant, formerly known as JBM, is one of the most talked about artists on the pages of ATH over the years. While he is clearly a singer/songwriter at his core, Marchant has always managed to expand on the genre with intimate, yet fleshed out tunes, that can offer the listener just about every emotion imaginable during one song. Naturally this means we have been giving this brand new album, Antelope Running, heavy rotation around our offices over the last few weeks. The stunning new LP from Marchant is streamable now on Spotify and also available for vinyl pre-orders via AntiFragile Music. I think you will find this to be one of the most creative and beautifully arranged albums of the year.

New Advertisement EP & Single

Seattle based rising band Advertisement had a huge year in 2020 with their debut LP American Advertisement, which received a whole ton of praise from us and a slew of other folks in the music media. Sometimes bands can let the hype get to them and allow their sound to go a bit stagnant, but not the case with this new single “Here it Comes”. No this one shows a band taking their grittier rock sound and naturally growing and maturing into a louder, more full sound with hints of 80s new wave and an infectious, driving style. You will want to check this one out today.

This track is part of Advertisement’s new Freedom EP which is live and streamable today!

Driving New Single From Lea Thomas

Brooklyn by way of Hawaii based artist Lea Thomas has been dropping all kinds of new singles this summer in preparation for her new album Mirrors to the Sun coming in late July. Just yesterday she shared this striking new single “Howl” and I couldn’t be more excited to drop it with you all today. Thomas has this magical way of keeping the song intimate in a sort of singer/songwriter style but also offers these bursts of grit and tension to really give the song this strong, driving edge. Ya dig.

New album Mirrors to the Sun will be available on July 23rd via Spirit House Records. Pre-orders are live now.

Another New Silver Firs Tune

The Swiss based outfit known as Silver Firs have been busy this Spring as they prep for the upcoming release of their new EP entitled Lake Hypoxia coming out later this month. About a month ago we heard our first new taste of the EP, and now we are being treated to another teaser with this new single “Allergies”. I truly love the way this band can meld the styles of dream pop with a little bit of psych rock and other moments of 60s pop folk music. It’s certainly a sound all their own and I can’t seem to get enough of it lately.

The EP Lake Hypoxia will be out on June 18th via Oh, Sister Records.

Bouncing New Track From School of X

Rasmus Littauer, working under the musical moniker School of X, is one hard working dude in the Copenhagen underground music scene. Last year he dropped his debut LP Armlockand also planned to impress us with his live show for SXSW, but then the world sort of stopped. School of X has continued making new music through the pandemic with yet another LP of new tunes entitled Dancing Through the Void coming on September 24th via Tambourhinoceros. Prior to the new album, we’ve been lucky enough to hear this new single “Feel of It”. It is a truly infectious piece of get up and move pop music similar to some of the earlier days of a band like Generationals or Fyfe Dangerfield. Check it out.

Nightwatchers Deliver New Single

A couple of years ago I came across the French punk band Nightwatchers and immediately submerged myself in their music. Their killer debut LP from 2019, La paix ou le sable, is still in heavy rotation on the turntable at home. Well the gents are coming back this year and kicking things off with this raucous new single called “1905 & The Muslim Exception”. It brings that some sort of raw, explosive energy we heard from the debut and builds on the sound with a more mature and slick approach to songwriting and production. If you don’t know about the band, you need to get informed.

Nightwatchers will release this single as part of a new album entitled Common Crusades due out this fall on Lovely Records.

New Single & BEER From Dentist

Asbury Park based band Dentist has long been a running staple here on the pages of your friendly ATH music blog. The band has always dropped great music and strived to work their asses off, all while doing things the right way and staying true to their sound and message. In typical fashion, the band couldn’t simply drop this great new single “Let Me Let Go” and call it a day… NO, the band got together with New Jersey based brewing company Last Wave Brewing to pair the track with what sounds like a delicious New England-style India Pale Ale. For those of us who don’t live in the NJ area, the new single and accompanying video will have to suffice. It’s pretty rad.

Dentist will be releasing a new LP of material sometime later this year on Cleopatra Records. Now to see if I can get my hands on some of this beer.

Silver Firs Return!

Our Bern, Switzerland based friends in Silver Firs were really lighting up our pages with stellar music way back in 2013/2014. Since that time, the band was on an lengthy hiatus so it was a bit shocking, and exciting, to hear new music from the band after 7+ years away from the scene. Their first new single after the hiatus, “Now We Start to See the Beauty”, was well worth the long wait and leaves me wanting to immediately hear more. The track starts as a slow burning, melodic tune but eventually builds into this dreamy and lovely pop tune. Can’t wait to hear more!

Silver Firs will release this track on a new EP entitled Lake Hypoxia out on June 18th.
