Talk Show Share New Single and Video

London’s finest new band Talk Show really came on my radar around this time last year with the release of their Touch the Ground EP featuring hit single “Cold House.” After a few singles released over the last year, the band has now just announced a release date of February 16th for their debut LP entitled Effigy. It features the previously heard jam “Closer,” and this brand new joint “Gold” which dropped late last week. You can certainly hear some 90s electro-rock inspiration in these tunes combined with a tense post-punk energy from leading man Harrison Swann.

Pre-orders are now live for Effigy via UK label Missing Pieces.

New Single & Video From Matt Pond PA

Matt Pond is one of the indie staples of our website as I feel like we’ve been talking about him and his musical projects since our inception. Fitting that today being October 31st that he naturally has a new single titled “Halloween Two” back under his Matt Pond PA moniker. The song is a delicate bit of indie folk featuring a perfect duet with fellow indie starlet Alexa Rose. This is just another song in the ever expanding catalog of emotional and thought provoking music from Matt Pond. Rumor has it that a tour and full EP will be coming soon.

About Last Night: Levitation Night Two (10/27)

While Nathan was solo on Thursday, the ATH crew rolled deep on Friday night with a full crew hitting almost every venue offered by Levitation Festival. While the rain dampened spirits a bit to start the evening, things ramped up once the skies cleared and we took full advantage of the full variety of musical styles on the lineup. We covered a ton of ground and saw a plethora of bands, all which you can read about after the jump.

Catchy New Tune From The Manikins

If you are unfamiliar with Sweden’s finest rock band The Manikins, well what are you even doing with your life? These lads were huge around 2008-2009, and though they took an extended break after that (9 years!), they never truly slowed down their musical output. This year, the band has plans for a 6th studio album featuring this new lead single “Rosita.” It’s a highly infectious, super fun bit of garage rock music best described by the band as a “trashy tearjerker.” Seems fitting.

Pre-orders for The Manikins 6th studio album, Swedish Woods, are live now. The album hits the streets on November 17th via Lovely Records.

Check Out Future Memory From Rocket

There has been a growing trend in indie rock music as of late with a focus on heavy guitar riffs and loud drumming from primarily female fronted bands. Think of the heavy hitters like Slothrust, Bully, Girl Scout, etc. etc. I am HERE for it and will push any and all new tunes from this style/trend. Los Angeles based Rocket just released this new single “Future Memory,” and it certainly hits on these themes while expanding the sound. I love the light touch of the verses as they explode into some super raucous and energy filled choruses. Bang on.

This track is part of a new EP from Rocket entitled Versions of You due out tomorrow! It will be available to stream on download on the Rocket bandcamp page.

New Single From Hoorsees

Parisian quartet Hoorsees have continued to impress over the last few years with their evolution into a truly French, indie pop/rock beast. New single “Ikea Boy” expertly displays this growth with hints of Strokes style guitar riffs playing over delicate touches of baroque pop. Of course the new single comes with the announcement of an anticipated new record entitled Big, which is due out on January 12th via Kanine Records. Ya dig.

Flat Party Shares Glances in the Dark

We’re getting ready for that lil’ festival this weekend, but that certainly doesn’t mean that we will stop dropping the random banger here and there. My jam of the day comes from the London based group Flat Party and their brand new tune “Glances in the Dark.” I love how the track melds this sort of post new wave style with a more twee pop vibe. Brings to mind an image of melding Mystery Jets pop influence with something more sinister like Death Bells. It’s a jam.

Flat Party will release this track as part of their debut, self-titled EP due out on January 19th via Submarine Cat Records. Pre-orders are live now.
