Stream New Album From Subsonic Eye

As we ease into another long awaited Friday, I suggest you take some time today to enjoy this new album entitled All Around You from the Singapore based outfit Subsonic Eye. Previously we shared with you the banger of a single “J-O-B,” which should’ve offered just a small tease of what was to come for their 10 song LP.  For me, it’s a gem of a collection with an expert portrayal of what indie pop used to represent while still sounding fresh and invigorating.  Please do check this one out.

If you’re feeling these tunes, the band has several physical purchase options over on bandcamp coming to you from the stellar US label Topshelf Records

Good Morning Drop Two New Singles

It seems like our pals in Melbourne based Good Morning have been a mainstay on these pages for many years now and we always eagerly await new music from the band. Imagine the excitement when today we got word of not one, but two new singles as part of a new double release through their label Polyvinyl. The first track, “dog years,” features that familiar, jangly sound from the lads while the second track “queen of comedy,” is a more somber and mellow tune. Somehow both compliment each other beautifully.

And hey! Good Morning are coming to Austin later this month with Frankie Cosmos at Mohawk. Tickets are available now.

Prom Shares Post-Emo Jam

Brighton based label Small Pond is possibly one of the busiest indie labels in the UK, which one can discover by checking out the myriad of releases on their bandcamp page. For a quick run down of what the label has been up to recently, a big compilation is upcoming with 16 new tracks from up and coming label discoveries. One of those new bands are locals prom who have offered up this track “Fancy Word For Addiction” for the soon to be released compilation. It’s an engaging piece of a sort of post-emo meets late 90s grunge type tune and serves as a promising preview for this new compilation.

The new compilation from Small Pond, Small Pond Emerging – Volume III, will be released on November 24th. Pre-orders are live now.

Rural Alberta Advantage Drop New Single

It’s always a treat when we can reconnect with a band that was featured in our earliest days of ATH, and Toronto based Rural Alberta Advantage would surely be one of those groups. It was a pleasure to see the band return with their original lineup last year with an EP entitled The Rise, and it’s an even greater delight to hear word of a full LP coming next month. Pairing all the tunes from last year’s EP with seven new ones, The Rise & The Fall will hit be released on October 6th via Saddle Creek stateside and Paper Bag Records internationally. Of course the announcement comes with an absolutely stunning new single called “Conductors” and, all other words aside, it’s great to have this band back.

Pre-orders for The Rise & The Fall are live now.

Straight Rocker From Heart To Gold

Minneapolis has long been home to an incredible DIY and gritty musical scene dating back to the late 70s and into the early 80s. For me, Twin Cities based outfit Heart to Gold carry that banner with them with their punk inspiration, but with a more upbeat, poppy, and modern sound. As an example, new single “Chloe” features just a ton of unbridled energy and fun with absolutely expert instrumentation throughout. Also gotta love anytime a three piece can sound this LOUD and full. Carry on.

Premiere: New Single From Postdata

If you’re a frequent reader of this here website, you know that I have been a huge fan of Paul Murphy and his musical project known as POSTDATA. He released one of my favorite albums of 2021 featuring hit single “Inside Out” while continuing to be busy this year with two straight jams over the last few months. Before he releases new album Run Wild on September 22nd, we’ve got the title track for you today to add to Murphy’s growing catalogue of hits. And for a special touch, Paul was kind enough to give us a quick Q/A about the new song and album. You can scope that along with the new song after the jump.

Uni Boys Share Another Jam

My dudes in Los Angeles based outfit Uni Boys have really been hitting me with some sweet jams recently, both with single “I Want it Too,” and now this new track “Two Years.” It’s honestly just a straight JAM in the vein of indie, or even a twee sort of pop sound. Having already listened to it 3 times this morning, I can assure you that it will warrant multiple repeat plays as you ease into the afternoon.

Just another reminder that the new Uni Boys album Buy This Now! will be out on October 13th via Curation Records. Pre-order it now!
