Bad Flamingo Share Shame

The weather is cooling all over it seems, so perhaps you’re sitting with a warm drink, staring off into that fireplace or chiminea or firepit; your eyes will catch the flickering flames doing their deathly dance, and perhaps you’ll hear this track from Bad Flamingo. This new tune from the duo embraces the slow burn, opening the song with just a little flame, a light burn that begins to build, the flame growing larger as the duo builds the textures beneath the vocals. There’s this smokiness to the vocals, adding to the fire imagery, but a voice that straddles both country and indie rock in its presence, making this the perfect jam for the start to your day or a way to wrap it up as you cozy up for the night.

Jeanines Drop Winter Single

I typically don’t fall for Holiday singles, but you know, maybe I’m seeing the world all wrong…and leave it to Jeanines to let me know the errors of my way. They dropped a brand new 7″ apparently over Thanksgiving, but Bandcamp is just now getting around to giving me the heads-up…which is their ONE job! Anyways, there’s always joy in my heart when I get a new hit from Jeanines, and their How Long Will it Last LP will be on my year-end list that will come before the year ends! Anyways, if you’re in search for delicious pop, you know that you can just hop over here and spend 3 plus minutes with two new Jeanines tunes!

New Music from Milano Flash

If you need a pick me up to get you going on this Monday morning then perhaps you’ll want to turn to two of my favorite artists, the Angergard brothers! The two often work separately, with one pushing the hits for Red Sleeping Beauty, while the other is the driving force behind Club 8. But, they’re working together with Eleni Tzavara to create Milano Flash, which sounds like a thumping disco band in the modern sense. The beats are definitely heavy, air-punching joy, as one would expect from the brothers. This is the first single, but here’s to hoping the new year brings us more hits from the group!

Paper Sister Drop Destroyer Single

Austin outfit Paper Sister have churned out several hits this year, and it looks like they’re ending 2025 with another banger. This tune begs for patience, however, as the tune broods, twists and turns for two minutes, allowing guitars to snake through the landscape as the bass growls. In between, the riffs build some solid tension, all of it finally hitting the musical apex just as you cross the two minute mark. It’s there when the group unleash their magic, letting the guitars growl as you get some vocal yips to keep the tune just on the right side of playfulness. Expect a debut EP from the group in 2026.

Fazed on a Pony Shares Wrong Party

When the latest single from Fazed on a Pony opens it doors, you better latch onto that galloping rhythm as it runs the course of the song’s entirety; it’s peppy, driving the tune forward at all times. Interestingly, even with a speedier bit of guitar work, Peter McCall manages to keep himself locked into his own performance, calmly delivering the vocals while the music moves at a speedier pace, crafting this perfect contrast. Speaking of that contrast, the space between gets filled with really nice string accents, fleshing out the sound into something larger than its parts. Really looking forward to hearing Swan, which drops on January 23rd via Meritorio Records and Melted Ice Cream.

New Single from Fiona Fiasco

Normally, I like to kick off my Fridays with a banger, but felt like offering this new Fiona Fiasco single might be something that could set the tone for a reflective morning before bounding into the weekend. The production is really careful not to step across the vocals, as that’s one of the highlights of the tune, listening as Fiona lets her voice sort of rise, crest, then turn away in each poetic lines. In her approach, I can hear the artistry of Cate le Bon, and while the arrangements are careful, the way the strings buoy the emotions within makes the song swell with beauty. Definitely someone to keep your eye upon!

Instrumental Jam From The Olympians

With the passing of the legendary Steve Cropper yesterday, my heart and mind lean into his music and ground breaking guitar style. So no, this isn’t a post about Steve, but more about the passing of the torch for new groups to carry on those oh so soulful sounds. Of course Daptone comes to mind when thinking of modern soul, and this instrumental jam called “Honey Bea” from The Olympians is packed with a slick, soulful groove. This one definitely focuses a bit more on the horns as it slides through an epic 4 minute journey of smoothness and soul vibes. You’ll want to check it out below.

Traitrs Drop New Banger

Ontario outfit Traitrs only recently came upon my radar, but in that, they’ve quickly secured a place in my heart, offering this sort of disaffected post-punk adjacent style to my listening rotation. In a lot of ways, particularly in the vocals, you’ll hear similarities to Lust for Youth, driving these soaring notes that feel like they’re echoing down some industrial hallway. Musically, your feet are kicking up behind you as the track punches and drives with this darkness that feels like clouds from the club’s fog machine have gone overboard, in the best way possible. This tune’s likely to appear on their new record, slated for release next March!

Charlie Diamond Shares The Diamond Dream

The weather outside in Austin is dreary and wet, so I wanted a little stomper to kick our day off, so it’s perfect that I had this Charlie Diamond tune sitting in my pocket. Whether you like a little bit of country or a little bit of rock n’ roll, you won’t be able to deny the natural energy in Charlie’s newest single. The percussive bounce feels fitting, stepping in time with the heavy strum of the guitar, all of it buoyed by this soaring backing mono-syllabic note that just crests and boogies right alongside you. The Tammy Shine Announces Debut LP

Please stay with us, as this may be a long-winded rant of a post. For starters, let’s begin with Tammy Ealom, the frontperson behind the new project, The Tammy Shine. You might recognize her as the tour de force behind legendary Denver band, Dressy Bessy; we were huge fans of the band’s work, so we’re already really excited just thinking about Tammy’s songwriting. Then, I start to think back to 2009 when we hosted Dressy Bessy at our SXSW show at the Victory Grill; it was there that I met and partied with my wife for the first time! Now, as life comes full-circle, our friends at HHBTM Records are putting out The Tammy Shine’s debut, and we’ve got the brand new video fresh for your ears. This track opens with a fuzzy little riff wiggling back and forth before settling into a locked groove that allows the vocals to take their place. What’s clear on this single is the way that Tammy takes ownership of the song, and the art she’s putting out; you can hear in the bite from her voice that this is a take-no-prisoners brand of pop rock…the best sort, if you ask us. It’s crunchy with a smattering of hooks, and you’ll be able to find it all on Ok Shine Ok, which comes out on February 20th via HHBTM.
