Free Mountain Goats EP
The Mountain Goats have a free EP entitled Satanic Messiah that you can download for free in 4 different formats. This EP comes after the band’s February 2008 release of Heretic Pride. Mountain Goats will also be playing Antone’s on Novembver 1st, but we’ll remind you about that closer to the actual date.
NPR Streams Of Montreal In DC
If you’ve never been blessed enough to see Of Montreal live, you finally have the chance thanks to NPR. The folks at NPR will be streaming an entire Of Montreal show taking place in Washington D.C. this evening. Show stream time is set for 10 pm E.T. (that’s 9pm Texas time). The Georgia band usually puts on quite the live set, so be sure to tune in. Read more about the stream over on the NPR website.
Free Album Streams
This could be the best week at Spinner’s CD listening party I’ve ever seen. The week in music is pretty crazy as far as releases go and Spinner is streaming a whole mess of them. New albums available include the new Glasvegas, Of Montreal, Deerhoof and too many others to list here. Listen to ’em all now!
Calexico On NPR Sound Check
Calexico recently did a short live set for the NPR Sound Check website. As always, the band blows you away with the strength of their stripped down live songs. Check out the whole thing on the NPR website. Don’t forget that the band will be making a stop in town Nov. 7th at Stubbs but we’ll remind you about that closer to the date.
Will Sheff Plays DJ
One of our favorite leading men about town, Will Sheff, played the DJ role for NPRs All Songs Considered recently. If you weren’t aware, Sheff fronts local and rising to fame band Okkervil River. His spot on the show features some fairly obscure music from the likes of Lorraine Ellison, Dion, The Penetrators and of course his own band. You can listen to each song or download the entire podcast from NPR website.
