So a little bit of a lengthy show post here so read carefully for all information you need.  First up, Passion Pit has their highly anticipated shows with Tokyo Police Club and Brahms planned for Friday and Saturday night at Stubbs.  Both those shows are sold out, but a quick craigslist search shows a slew of tickets going for fairly reasonable prices.  You can also catch a free set by Tokyo Police Club and Passion Pit at Waterloo Records around 6pm.  I’d also recommend an interview we did with Passion Pit during ACL and a show review from a year ago.

Maluca @ ND (6/17)

Our amigos over at The Knuckle Rumbler are up to no good again with a sweet show at The ND (apparently that’s what The Independent is calling themselves now) on Thursday night.  Music for the night is provided by up and coming dance artist Maluca along with our very own locals Dj Orion and Dubbel Dutch.  You think that’s it?  Hell no.  KR is also offering a few pairs of Greedy Genius shoes to those who purchase a $7 ticket in advance.  To enter for your chance at the shoes, pre-order a ticket, and then go hear to enter.  Keep on keepin’ it real.

Contest: Daniel Johnston @ Mohawk (6/19)

Local and legendary musician Daniel Johnston is playing one of his rare shows at the Mohawk this Saturday night.  Lucky for us, we’ve gotten the opportunity to give away a guest list spot with a +1 for the show.  Contest deets are simple: Just leave a comment or tweet us with your favorite all time Austin musician (other than Johnston) and why.  That’s it!  One lucky winner will be rewarded with a spot on the guest list along with +1 for your date.  Get your entries in by Friday and don’t forget to leave a valid email in the email slot.  If you’d like two chances to win, head to Daniel Johnston’s website for another chance to win entrance into the show. You’ve got a great opportunity to see a legend in an intimate setting with a set by Lou Barlow on the inside stage at Mohawk.  He’ll be joined by up and coming local acts Sarah Jaffe and Danny Malone.  I wouldn’t pass up this sweet show.  We’ve also got a new track from Lou called “Losercore” which is featured on a new EP from him and The Missingmen.

Eddy Current Suppression Ring @ Mohawk (6/12)

Eddy Current Suppression Ring is one of the bigger indie bands rocking around the country of Australia.  They’ve just released their album Rush to Relax, and now they head to our fair town to put their energetic live set on display.  It should be an evening full of jangling guitars, pounding drums and all around good times.  An additional bonus is that one of our favorite Texas acts Fergus and Geronimo will be opening the evening for you all, so get there early to support a somewhat local act.

Twilight Sad @ Emo’s (6/11)

One of our favorite bands Twilight Sad will be making their way to the inside stage at Emo’s on Friday night.  To make things more enticing, our local friends Calm Blue Sea will be providing the opening support.  This should be a great night with two awesome bands on the bill.

Our friends over at the Ultra8201 blog are throwing quite the little birthday party at The Parish on Thursday night.  The guys have locked down solid locals like L.A.X, Love at 20, Politics, and The Redboys for sets during the night’s festivities.  It should be a good night to get your weekend of music started a little early.

Mind Of Adi Residency Series @ Mohawk (6/9)

Adi continues his residency series this week at the Mohawk on Wednesday night with some sets by a few great local bands.  This week, he’s brought in The Frontier Brothers, Seaholm Electric, and and Invisible Inks.  You can also expect some great DJ sets, food specials and prizes to be given away.  I can’t wait to see if this Seaholm Electric band can deliver on their surprising new debut LP.

LCD Soundsystem @ Stubbs (6/8)

Obviously everyone is really excited for this show, as tickets have already SOLD OUT, but we know there are people on Craigslist waiting to get rid of their tickets if you’re willing to pay the price. LCD Soundsystem always puts on a ridiculously great show, owed largely to the performance of James Murphy.  If you’re into this band, you better get into this show, as rumor has it that LCD might be no more after the recent release of This Is Happening.  You’ll also be treated to a good little opener by checking out Holy Ghost! If you’re there, hope you have fun; I’ll be hanging with my moms for her birthday. And if you’re not, rest assured there are lots of great shows coming up in town this week.
