Hot music blog band Bat for Lashes are making their way to town at the Parish this Wednesday. Oklahoma boys Other Lives are also returning to town to provide opening support for the show. Unfortunately tickets are sold out for this one, so try your hand at some craigslist or scalping action.

The Parish has a nice lineup of local artists this Friday night with headliners Balmorhea leading the way. Fellow up and coming Austin bands Ume and Sunset will also be a part of the night’s event. Tickets are available now for $10.

We always get excited when Los Campesinos! come to town so we’ll be making a point to see them on Friday when they come to Emos. We’re even more excited this time around because one of our new favorite bands, Girls, will be playing as well. Chicago band Smith Westerns will be providing opening support. Tickets are only $14 and doors are at 9pm.

We’ve really been looking forward to this Bowerbirds show with Megafaun at Mohawk for awhile now and the time has finally come! The show will be on the inside stage and should start around 10pm. Tickets are only $8 at the door. Even better news, our very own Martin Crane of Austin band Brazos will be opening things up.

Wow. So apparently Our Lady Peace is still a band and they are actually coming to Antones on Tuesday night. Recent Austin transplants Electric Touch will also be on hand providing opening support. If interested, get yo tickets now for $20. Much to our surprise, Our Lady Peace also just released a brand new album last month with this new single “All You Did was Save my Life”. It’s…. interesting.

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from indie-popsters Brown Recluse, but this fall will finally see some new material from the band. The band’s Soft Skin EP was recorded in 2007 and will be hitting stores September 8th via Slumberland Records. Here’s a first listen to the new EP with “Contour and Context”. Enjoy.

Most of you are probably aware by now that when it comes to hip-hop, we here at ATH tend to kick it old school style. We’ll continue that trend by telling you about the Wu-Tang alumni show at Emo’s on Sunday night with Method Man & Redman along with Ghostface Killah. Tickets are on sale for this one at $23 a piece. Doors are at 9pm, show at 10. Hip-hop/rap lineups really get no better than this.

It’s been a great week for local shows and Saturday night is no different with a packed lineup of locals presented by KVRX at United States Art Authority (right next to Spider House Café). The bill features headliners Moth! Fight! along with fellow Austinites School Police, The Sour Notes and DJ Dan Gentile. It should be a fun night full of the best new bands Austin has to offer. Entrance fee is only $5 and things start off around 10pm.

The last time we were able to catch M. Ward was at the shores of Ladybird Lake during SXSW, and the intimacy of his tunes was missed as his guitar seemed to drift out onto the shores of on-lookers-most of whom knew very little of the man. Upon his return, we had heard he would be rocking solo, but we were greeted by so much more.
Li’l Cap’n Travis has always been one of our favorite Austin bands and we always make a point to check them out when they play around town. So if you’re looking for some cheap local jams on Friday night, head to Continental Club for a set by the Austin alt-country band. Fellow locals Leatherbag and Aaron Blount and The Mockingales will also be playing before the headliners. Show starts around 10pm.
