Jim Ward’s project outside of Sparta, Sleepercar, will be showing up at Mohawk this dull Monday evening. Doors for the event are set for 8pm with no opening band yet announced. Preview the show with the band’s most recent single “A Broken Promise”.

If King Khan and Ghostland Observatory aren’t your thing, head out to Beauty Bar on Saturday evening for two masters in the art of the mash-up with Car Stereo (Wars) & The Hood Internet. Not sure what the cover charge will be, but things should get started around 9pm and go on till 2. Everyone loves BBQ, but aside from chopped beef, you will all be able to see one of the most underrated Texas bands at Lamberts this Friday evening. The Theater Fire hails from Ft. Worth; they bring their own Texas version of the Silver Jews our way for a mere $7. If your Friday evening is open, I suggest you end up at Lamberts.

Of Montreal will be bringing their ridiculous live show through Austin this Thursday evening and we’re here to bring you the details. The band will be playing at the rarely utilized Fiesta Gardens on the east side with doors opening at 6pm. Tickets can be bought now from the Transmission Entertainment website. If you’re curious about the venue choice, my guess is that they need somewhere to park the horse trailer. To make the show even more enticing, Icy Demons out of Chicago will be opening for Of Montreal. Here’s a track from Icy Demons called “Miami Ice”.

A lot has been made in the past few years about the ridiculous onslaught of sweet tunes that are coming from Dengue Fever. Earlier this year, they rocked everyone over at Club Deville. Tonight, they are the sepcial guest at the Fun Fun Fun Fest pre-party over at the Mohawk. We thought you should know!
They’ll be playing with a bunch of great Austin acts like Brothers and Sisters and The Lovely Sparrows.

Oklahoma boys Colourmusic will be playing a free instore at Waterloo Records this Thursday afternoon at 5pm. I guess you could call this a teaser for the band’s full blown set at Fun Fest this weekend. It’s also probably well known that we enjoy this band’s music and never miss their shows. The free beer Waterloo provides should make the decision to head out even easier.
