Master of piano pop, Ben Folds, will be performing at Stubbs in Austin on Saturday night. Tickets for the show are running a tad high at $40, but you can buy one now if that’s in your price range. Doors for the show open at 7pm with music starting at 8pm.
As much as I enjoy spitting hateful bile, Jaugar Love is one of those bands I really enjoy. You can check out just how much I love them by reading an old review. Well, they will be destroying the insides of Emo’s Lounge this Saturday night along with Polysics, who bring along some New Wave elements.

The Cold War Kids will be playing a couple shows in Austin this Friday. First one is a free show at Waterloo Records going down at 5pm with free keg beer of course. Second show of the day takes place at Emo’s with A.A. Bondy in support. Better try searching craigs list if you wanna make it to the Emo’s show because it’s been sold out for a while now. On the week when one half of Death From Above 1979 releases his debut record, the other half comes to Austin via MSTRKRFT. This particular half is all about beats and remixes and super dance moves. I mean, it’s not titled the Fist of God Tour for nothing; sinners beware, you’ll be forced to dance.

A White Denim show has just been added to the bill at Club Deville this Wednesday (10/22). The Austin boys will be headlining with Dayton garage rock outfit Heartless Bastards opening things up. Tickets for the show are only $9 and I suggest you buy them now before this thing sells out. The show is in support of the band’s debut US LP Exposion which you can buy/download today before the November 3rd vinyl release date. Girl Talk, the master of all things mash-up/dj releated, will be bringing the noise at Emo’s on Monday night. Unfortunately, tickets for the show have been sold out for a while now, so try searching craigslist, buying one from a “street vendor”, or entering the Austin Sound Check contest. Music should get started around 10pm with opening acts Hearts of Darknesses and Grand Buffet. Don’t forget you can still pay what you want for Girl Talk’s latest effort Feed the Animals.
One of the few bands to come out of Alaska, Portugal. The Man, are making the huge trek to Austin on Saturday night. The Emo’s show will only cost ya $12 and gets started around 9pm. The Wedding Present will be providing one of many outstanding shows for the weekend. The band will be playing Friday night at The Mohawk in Austin with tickets on sale for only $10. If you read our recent review of the band’s latest effort, El Rey, you know we’re pumped about this one.
Dressy Bessy seem to be on the verge of “making it” as artists. The band has been around for over 10 years now but it seems like they are finally gaining notariety in the blog/music world. That being said, you better seize the opportunity now to see them at a smaller venue like Emo’s Lounge.
