Every time there’s a new Memorials single I become increasingly obsessed with the group’s work, and this new track just can’t be ignored. I loved the orchestration and the way it continues to roll and push forward on the those synths/keyboards; there’s this intoxicating propulsion that spins tumbles you over and over. Those vocals just ride the crest of that motion, and when the tune moves into its more melodious moments, you just know you’ll have to keep coming back to satisfy your thirst. All Clouds Bring Not Rain could be one of the surprise album of the year contenders; it hits on March 27th via Fire Records.

Verity Susman’s voice has been an omnipresent sound in my life (and my DJ sets); it can be strikingly beautiful and haunting at the same time, which is exactly what we get on the latest Memorials single. It’s hard not to hear some Nico nods in the simplicity of the craft, allowing the vocals to be the constant highlight of the song; the voice appears to be walking alongside the piano/synth notes, as if they’re walking together hand in hand. There’s some little noisy flutters, but they’re brief, letting the song resonate with you, sinking deep into your soul. All Clouds Bring Not Rain will be out on March 27th via Fire Records.

Call me crazy, but I’m thinking that the new record from Memorials is going to be one of those albums you keep coming back to throughout the year. On their latest single, you can already hear the group flexing their work with textured synthetics, layering vocals and electronica atop one another, building in that propulsive manner that drew us all into the depths of Stereolab. Close ears will hear little flutters of noise and ambiance, illustrating the details the duo has put into their craftsmanship on this record, offering up more than your modern fare. Sing into the melodic buzz of this jam and prepare yourself for All Clouds Bring Not Rain, out March 27th via Fire Records.
