Free Merge Spring Sampler

It’s that time of year again for all of us to begin reflecting on the first third of our year in the music world.  Merge has of course released some stellar albums in these first 4 months of 2010 and they’re celebrating that with a free 14 track digital sampler.  Awesome songs from She & Him, Destroyer, Let’s Wrestle, and tons of others are including.  The Sampler is currently available for free download via Amazon.  This also gives me another excuse to post up one of my favorite songs of the year from Merge band Wye Oak.

Free Music From SXSW Artists

sxsw_09A whole slew of websites & record companies are giving away some free MP3s from artist participating in SXSW.  NPR has one featuring 16 tracks from artists involved in some of their events during the week.  Famous UK label 4AD also has a sampler of artists playing their showcase available for download after you give them an email addy.  And of course Amazon won’t be outdone with a sampler of artists playing the IODA opening day bash party.  Are you ready for the party?

temptationsAmazon continues to try and compete with itunes in the Mp3 download department by offering you such steals as these.  The deal for today features a 20 song compilation disc of The Motown singles to reach #1 for only $1.99. You won’t be surprised that the album is full of huge names like Lionel Richie (also an ATH guilty pleasure), The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, and other greats.  Get it now.
