Jittery Rocker from Axis : Sova

Simple style and execution are sometimes the only things you need to pull off a catchy pop song, such as the latest hit from Axis: Sova. Immediately your ear will gravitate to the jittery guitar stabs, while the vocals have this clever brattiness to it; those vocals are joined by a gang vocal approach that adds a hook factor to the tune, not to mention encourages you to jump right in and join the fun! It’s short, sweet and to the point…with just the occasional guitar soloing frill. Shampoo You drops on November 16th via God? Records.

Have Another Track from Axis: Sova

axissovaFrom the instant you press play on this new Axis: Sova track the guitars draw you in; you want to know where they’re going to take you. It’s a journey with a bit of a jam to it, banging out rock n’ roll chords with a haunting vocal draped across it as the drums push forward. It settles into sort of a dark stomp, yet the promise of this song leaves plenty of room for the songs on Motor Earth to freak out or rock out; it’ll surely leave a lasting impression when it hits the streets courtesy of God? Records on October 14th.

Darkened Rock from Axis: Sova

axissovaSometimes you press play on a song, and you marvel at why it hasn’t exploded in the blogosphere…that’s precisely what I thought when listening to the new Axis: Sova. I mean, the song has this dark pop sensibility that offers up hidden hooks…that alone warrants my attention. But, further listens offer up scuzzy rock n’ roll with a modern edge, which seems like all the rage with the kids these days. The latter half of the tune even looks into the popular sounds of 70s, so I’m perplexed as to why a million people aren’t talking about it. Regardless, you can change that by pressing play below. And if not, at least look for the new record, Motor Earth, on October 14th via God? Records.

Something a Touch Different from Axis: Sova

crushWhen I first played this song from Axis: Sova, I figured, eh, sounds pretty run of the mill.  It begins with this driving electronic beat and some widely distorted guitars.  But…then it sort of spins off into this experimental noise, touching on vocals for various points, then jumping back into the world of experimenting for over 7 minutes.  It might sound daunting, but it never wears on you, which is why Early Surf, the new LP, will be interesting to say the least; it has a release date of February 17th via God? Records.
