Last Week’s Jams, Today (September 13 – 17)

Last week I might have gotten a little carried away; my wife and newborn son were spending a lot of time resting, so I was just hanging out writing about songs all week…something a teacher, soccer coach, dad and label owner typically can’t do. So, this week’s playlist of last week’s hits might be a little longer than usual, but you’re going to be all the better for it. I hope you have a wonderful Monday my friends, and enjoy the jams here!

Breathe Panel Share Stretch

This week, Breathe Panel will release their new record, Lets It In, and they’ve opted to drop one more hint to entice you before we hit Friday’s release. Those of you with an inclination to love Hovvdy, Real Estate, or more recently Central Heat Exchange will certainly warm to the charms of this little ditty. It’s got this casual vocal style, the sort where you feel like your just riding your bike down the street with the breeze in your face, driving you forward with juxtaposed cool and warm sensations. Guitar notes are sharp, playfully dancing atop the rhythmic bounce of the drum work. And just as you fall in love, it ends, begging you to grab the LP from Fat Cat this Friday.

Breathe Panel Share Spring Single

Since they released their debut LP in 2018, Breathe Panel have mostly been quiet…until today. They return with this softened brand of guitar pop; utilizing comforting melodies and the faintest of jangling guitars for their charm offensive. I love how everything in this song, from the video to the name to the style all seem to tie into one great release; the colors change outside the window as the trees blow ever so gently in the wind…exactly as that’s happening outside our own window. This is a pop tune at its very purest, asking for little more than three minutes of your time today; it will surely be time well worth it.
