Premiere: Bubbles Brown Cover Nirvana (kind of)

bubblesbrownI just wanted to grab your attention, as I think Bubbles Brown, knowing their style, are really covering Lead Belly. Sure, the Nirvana link gets a lot more attention, as radio stations won’t stop playing it, but now you have a more soulful version (as it was originally intended) to add to your collection. I love the sound of Bubbles here, pulling out the old school Southern drawl with his vocals; it’s refreshing to hear someone yank at the heartstrings and sound wholly refreshing. The two piece releasetheir brand new Oh Sure Volume One EPtoday, which will feature this nod, but don’t forget to revisit their recent release, Mt. Gilead too…you won’t wanna miss it.

Premiere: Bubbles Brown Bring Blues Booking on “Sundance”

bubblebrownGive this track a few moments and you’ll probably find yourself lost in the past, stomping your feet to the history of Bubbles Brown‘s soulful boogie. The band broke their teeth working the streets of Chicago for spare change, and it seems that in doing so, they’ve come out brandishing their own unique blend of blues, jazz and the soul of Texas. They recently released their debut Mt. Gilead, andthese B-sidescontinue to prove that some bands have no peers. Seems so simple, yet taking a few listens will reveal just how complex the sounds of the duo have gotten over time. Hope you’ll spend some time here and then go back to listen to the whole of their album.
