There’s always a lot going on in the Austin scene, but one of the acts we’ve been keeping up with on our end is French Film, who’ve just dropped a Cassingle via our friend Trish’s Nothing Song Records. I can certainly hear how folks would like to lump them into the dreamier realms of indie rock, especially if you take on this single’s latter half. But, absorb the front-end of the tune, as it completely embraces the punk ethos, drawing my personal tastes deep into the track. It’s interesting, as I can hear some of the anthemic rapture that recalls Pretty Girls Make Graves (though they just played here so my mind is on that!). Maybe they’re dreamy and punk, and maybe it doesn’t matter if you’ve got tunes like the one below.

Autocamper Relase Blanche

Okay, so maybe I over-indulged in my Friday listening a little bit, but you’ve got to hear this fresh tune from UK outfit Autocamper. They hang these jangling guitar notes right at the front, and you know instantly that you’re going to feel the energy rushing right through you. They steady the jangle when the vocals run into the scene, layering it with a rolling bit of keys to soften the melodic nature; they don’t stop their, stacking layers of backing vocals to the tune, completely filling every inch of the tune with pop sentiment. You’ll find this track on a cassingle, courtesy of Safe Suburban Home.

Listen to the New Cassingle from Michael Rault

Tuesday’s always bring new music to our inbox, and one the songs I immediately latched onto was this tune from Michael Rault. There’s two tracks below for you to jam to, both offering a nice bit of subdued glamour pop. You can hear hints of Ty Segall inspired songwriting in what Rault and his band have completed, though it’s spun in an entirely different direction, focusing more on the perfect arrangement of pop structures. This single is a release sponsored by Burger Records in anticipation of a full length to come your way in 2015.
