Swimming Bell Share New Single

After hitting you with a little bit of abrasive melody, felt like we could dip our toes in a bit of a cooler pond, this time with the latest track from Swimming Bell. When I ran through the first time, I was totally drawn to that guitar sliding through in the distance, working to add a textural layer that allows Katie Schottland’s vocals a place to play around. There’s this tribal beat beneath, almost acting as a heartbeat, all of this working to stretch the tune into this striking ray of light that shines upon you as you press play. Plus, there’s bonus points for Cody from Shannon/Clams who directed/created the video, adding a lightness that matches the tune’s joy. The band will release Charlie early next year via Permanent Records.

Bodega Drop a New Track

Up until this point, Bodega have given us some great arty-punk stylings, catchy and thought provoking. But, destined to be more than a one-trick pony, the group are sharing their most straightforward pop song just before the album gets dropped. This song is Ben’s homage to a friend he lost back in 2007, and you can hear the lasting impact Charlie had on him…if you’ve lost someone in your own life, you can immediately relate to the lyrical content, as if it was ripped from your own journal. It’s good to see the softer side of the group, a sign that you can still be surprised by the New York outfit. Endless Scroll drops this Friday via What’s Your Rupture.
