Constellation Myths Offer A Consolation

As Constellation Myths prepare for the Cost of Living they remind us that this record is more of a conversation surrounding the world at large, rather than the introspective first LP. On their newest single, vocalist Molly Seamans weaves a story influenced by a comment from her father about a “boatyard of broken dreams;” its a piece reflecting on social anxieties and class warfare, spun in this beautifully crafted brand of pop. At times, the tune works its way into almost jazz pop, with sensational drumming playing upon the cymbals to create this huge atmosphere. The movement from the quiet moments into forceful pop, only to recede and pull back to its quiet as the song fades out. Keep an eye out for the whole LP, dropping right around the corner.

Last Week’s Jams (6.2 – 6.6)

Going to be a bit of an off week, as RayRay is out on vacation, and I head out on the latter half of the week, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t crush it last week. I was finally able to let the cat out of the bag about new music from Heavenly/Swansea Sound; RayRay dropped the premiere for new ATX powerhouse, Porcelain. Oh, and B. Gray was coming through with sick photo work from Kilby Block Party and OMD, so we’re really just trying to make your musical world better. There’s a bunch of sweet jams, though I’ll admit I’m really loving the Slow Summits new tune, as well as the cover by Glass Spells. Stream below and feel free to comment on what you loved and what we missed!

Constellation Myths Share Shadows on the Wall

During the summer I typically ramp up my rock coverage, as I’m generally looking to get a little bit of energy and burst into my day, but maybe I’m growing old, as I’ve been indulging in this Constellation Myths track, feeling more like a campfire ballad. Andy Arch’s voice here reminds me of Will Johnson, kind of raspy, but with the ability to wrap itself around each little bending steel guitar note; he gets some added support too by the harmonizing with Molly Seamans, who blankets the tune with a hint of softness. Musically, the song’s slow burn is perfect for those nights where you can feel the swell of humidity, and the sweat of the song runs down your speakers as you seek solace in this complicated world. Their album The Cost of Living is on its way this year, so be on the lookout.
