The Maureens Share Don’t Give Up

We’re back with a new single from one of our fave labels, Meritorio Records, as the label is currently working on the new Maureens record, which drops at the end of May. Today, they’ve shared the album’s opener, with the group brandishing their rollicking style of pop, biting at your heels with this fervor that seems tethered Spring-time pop music. They’re still reliant upon great melodies, and their might not be anyone doing it better than the group at current, now that the Lucksmiths are in retirement. If you aren’t ready for your next favorite pop record, then maybe skip ahead, but if you are, then you’ll want to get Don’t Give Up, out May 29th.

Maureens Share Me and My Friend

Fridays are meant to be frivolous, almost celebratory in their very nature, which is why this track from the new Maureens LP is spot on for this morning. It begins with this natural infectiousness from the bass line; it bobs and bounces in the perfect way that sets up the whole of the single. The Dutch outfit naturally harmonize in this fashion that reminds me of The Boys of Perpetual Nervousness, which then leads me back to early Beulah records. These are bubblegum pop tunes for those with mature tastes; the construction is a little more technical, the melodies layered, but always with fun on the mind. The Maureens drop Don’t Give Up on May 29th via Meritorio Records.
