unnamedThose in the mood for a little throwback, doo wop style pop music on this Wednesday should check out this new single entitled “It’s Time” from San Francisco based Nick Waterhouse. You’ll hear many genre elementshere like soul, jazz, and r&b all coming together nicely to create a powerful bit of retro pop music. I could see Nick headlining a stage at ACL here pretty soon if he keeps this up.

Waterhouse will release Never Twice on September 30th via Innovative Leisure.

unnamed-6Ever since sharing new single “Hanging From The Ceiling” from Edmonton based The Velveteins last month, I’ve become a huge fan of the up and coming band. They create a sort of slacker brand of doo wop pop music that’s sure to perk up anyone’s eardrums. Today I’ve got good reason to share this new single again with a new video for the track. The video here fits perfectly with the slow moving, meandering style of the song and I suggest you check it out. Be sure to pick up new EPA Hot Second With The Velveteinsout now on Fierce Panda.

Gem From Paul Bergmann

1457530_552370428228320_4657213407371074694_nMan I have been enjoying this new Paul Bergmann tune most of the evening and wanted to send it your way on this fine hump day.  The track, “Old Dream”, is a true songwriter’s gem in the vein of old Tallest Man or even up and comer Andrew St. James.  It’s truly a special number.

Paul currently has a 7″ single with this track and one other out now on Fairax Recordings.

More New Music From Kirby Kaiser

Ever since I first listened to some of her doo-wop style music back in November, I knew that I was going to have a lasting love affair with the young upstart Kirby Kaiser.  She has an incredible vocal delivery that’s really not as powerful as anyone else currently making music.  That being said, this new song “Every Time” builds on my fandom of the leading lady and brings more anticipation for what’s to come.  A debut LP is said to be coming soon, but no firm release date just yet.

New Beauty From Kirby Kaiser

Most of our loyal readers know that the ATH crew is all about the leading ladies with beautiful voices that can often times send a chill down our spine.  This new song entitled “A Little Longer” coming our way from Chicago based songwriter Kirby Kaiser is one of those songs that we find irresistible.  The songwriting is fairly simplistic and could maybe be considered a little juvenile for the young 20 year old musician, but hot damn, something about her vocal delivery is really doing it for me.  It’s sultry, it’s raspy, and it fits in perfectly with the doo wop style of the song.  This is the first new material from Kaiser since the release of her debut EP last year, which I highly recommend you check out on soundcloud if you haven’t.  She’s got what it takes to stay around for awhile.
