Clwb Fuzz Change Name to Midding + Drop New Single

Cardiff’s Clwb Fuzz were tired of the name, so they opted to change directions and present us with a new name and a new single; they’ll now be operating under the name Midding. This single is part of their new Double A-Side single, and while there are some moments of scorched-earth shoegaze, there’s this section that hangs out in the crevices that’s utterly fascinating. The darkness pervades, but there’s this melodic resolve, as if the band weren’t entirely sold on their fuzzy beginnings. Whatever they’ve opted for, it really works here as I’m totally in love with the tune below.

Feel like we should slink our way into the weekend, gently tapping our toes as we dream of what’s in store, and what better way than this new single from Mother Sun. The Canadian outfit seem quite unassuming in their presentation of this song; the music almost feels like a carefully mellowed brand of indie rock. Drums tap things out from start to finish, with the vocals soothing like aloe on a fresh sunburn, leaving your skin with this nice chilled touch. Plus, the horn section for arrangement accompaniment is stellar, and placed so well that you’re going to struggle to find anything wrong with this jaunty jam. This single’s one of a handful out now from Divine Bovine.

Gordon Koang Shares Brand New Single

Okay, so the title of the brand new Double A-side Single from Gordon Koang seems a bit on the nose, but don’t dismiss on title alone. The track has this infectious bob and weave from the percussive elements, which are always an omni-present feature in Koang’s music. But, central to his work is his unique four string instrument, the thom; it has this unique ability to give his work this slight little jump, like a spiritual lift amidst the textural elements behind in the mix. I think that works wonders for Gordon as his theme here is to send out condolences to folks who’ve suffered due to the pandemic, as well as vibes of healing; this truly is world music, at its very very best. The new 12″ single will be out via Music in Exile on August 4th.
