Woods Deliver Double Single

It’s nearing Fall, or late Summer as we call it here in Austin, and with that, wistful Winter tunes are necessary; there are no finer purveyors than Woods, who are set to head out on the road for a quick little jaunt up the East Coast. To celebrate, the group are offering up a couple of new tracks, both of which you can stream below. They’ve sort entered their peak Grateful Dead, bridging the boundary between classic folk rock and modern indie sounds, all of it built for campfire sing-alongs with your best friends. Their first show on this East Coast tour is Friday night in NYC!

Feeling Figures Celebrate East Coast Jaunt with New Video!!!

Nearly two months ago, Canadian outfit Feeling Figures dropped the super Everything Around You LP into our laps; it was filled with a refreshing brand of indie rock that managed to incorporate old and new sounds all simultaneously. This week, the band are coming from the Great North to play some shows in Philly (11.14), NYC (11.15), Boston (11.16), and New Haven (11.17). Despite being bummed they’re New York trip was a week after my own, I love that they’ve got a great video from the title track. When you press play, the song sort of noodles; it’s playing in a familiar sort of post-Sonic Youth territory, indicating it’s just the band locking into their own internal sound. Just before the minute mark hits, the pop rolls in, coming across like a slight more dissonant Broadcast; I absolutely adore this track! If you haven’t picked up a copy, it’s available now through K/Perennial.

Smirk Share Bad Behavior Video

I got a press release describing this new Smirk single as a song somewhere between Total Control and Suicide, and I pretty much decided that that’s all I would need to write…I mean, isn’t that enough for you people?! I love the percussive element on this tune, there’s something snappy that almost marches you along the in the track while those guitars swirl and bend all around. Spoken vocals seemingly draw you in further, as you’ve got to pay attention while everything around you seems thundering out of complete control. It’s a great jam, and one that should put you on notice for a slew of East Coast tour dates in the first week of April…you can see those linked in the video’s notes!
