More from Faded Cassettes

One of my favorite discoveries of last year was Faded Cassettes, a bedroom project that bridges my love of the Spanish language with lo-fi post-punk. So, as we settle into the new year, why not hear one of the final singles from the forthcoming Doesn’t Know Me Yet EP. As per usual, the song is quick and snappy, using sampled drums to push the pace while the vocals are hiding in the shadows of the tune. Reminds me of a mixture between Blank Dogs and Black Marble, only with a little bit of a Latin twist. We’ll be covering more from the project, I’m sure, as we move along into 2026.

Another Faded Cassettes Track

This year I’ve tried my best to really spend time listening to stuff that’s not making it on all the mass publications, as that’s where the glory is…for me at least. Faded Cassettes is one such project, blending my love for Spanish and post-punk into one nice delicious treat. They got out Life Goes On Outside My Window this season, and while there are a lot of really great moments on the record, feel like we could pep up your Monday with a reminder of the group’s sound and the fun you’ll have cranking this one to the top. Embrace the natural rhythm and you’ll never look back.

Last Week’s Jams (10.13 – 10.17)

There was a lot of really great music, and in all likelihood, we’re nearing the end of the yearly cycle, where I expect to kind of see a flutter of singles then the lists will pop up! On our end, we covered a lot of the ATX this week, with new stuff from Jet Cemetery, Don’t Get Lemon, Gus Baldwin and Living Set. There were some new tunes that really rocked me, like Deathcat‘s pop punk masterpiece, not to mention the new Winged Wheel noise pop piece. Even managed to find some room for old favorites like Living Hour, Pia Fraus and Bubblegum Lemonade among the masses! Crank this playlist up, as it starts with a banger from Possible Humans.

A New Jam from Faded Cassettes

I’ve only discovered Faded Cassettes this year, but the artist has quickly slid into my constant rotation, bobbing along to the ups and downs of the quieted dreamscapes being created. This new jam is definitely a slow burn, working the same riff as the backbone; the tune opens up with some tonal changes, letting the sharpness of the notes sparkle a bit in the forefront before receding for a touch. I like the nice little backing vocals that swirl around the 2 minute mark, layering in an additional melody that highlights the continuous growth of the songwriting for the project.

Last Week’s Jams (9.8 – 9.12)

What a week of fun tunes! I was really stoked with some of the stuff we were able to premiere on our end, such as new jams from Lola Tried and Giant Day, not to mention that incredible Morwan track all the way from Ukraine. If you haven’t checked any of those out, well, wait no more and click below. You’ll also find the best of indiepop with brand new songs from Telephone Numbers and the Cords. I was happy to hear some new music from Mary Onettes, as they’ve long been one of my go to listens. Plus, there’s never a bad day for Stella Donnelly, dropping us a preview of her new album. Don’t be afraid to let us know what you loved!

New Music from Faded Cassettes

There’s a brand of bedroom indiepop floating around there that has consistently found its way under my skin, and Puerto Rican artist Faded Cassettes is bringing that brand big time. You’ll hear a spritely guitar line, dancing and shimmering in the distance, akin to stuff like the early Drums records or maybe even a poppier brand of Blank Dogs, kind of circling around the pop edges of darkened post-punk. Sure, the energy is pushing a playful experience, but there’s something in the recording that keeps it a bit more intimate and personal, which is just my brand. Look for a debut album from the artist out on October 11th.
