This is fine.
Friday night was our third show in a four day run, and man, I couldn’t have asked for a better bunch of bands to catch live. Â Manhunt, Flesh Lights, Mind Spiders killed it, and to top it off, Obits closed the night in marvelous fashion.

I’m honestly not really sure what Fashion Freakout 5 really entails, other than the fact that some of Austin’s vintage stores will be setting up shop in some fashion or another over at the Mohawk. Â What I do want to highlight are the excellent bands that will be holding it down for you all night, with some of the best in Austin’s punk/rock scene. Â You’ll get our performance favorites in OBN IIIs, but you’ll also get bright newcomers in Fleshlights (they put out an excellent release in 2011), not to mention A Giant Dog. Â The doors open at 7 PM, and if you haven’t gotten your hands on a ticket yet, you can pick one up at the door for $12. Â It’s an excellent weekend for local Austin music, so please attend!

The week of free music here in Austin is winding down, and for those of you who haven’t had a great chance just yet to catch a whole lot of the acts, don’t fret; there’s tons of excellent bands playing all over this weekend, so be sure to get out and enjoy the great tunes our town has to offer! Oh man, is 2011 over already? Â It is indeed, which means End of Year list time! Â Of course, that means it’s time for you to tell us where we went wrong, but on this list, we’re thinking we got it pretty right on. Â You’ll notice we expanded our list to a Top 15 of Texas Artists, as we thought our state did a great job, musically (not politically) speaking this year. Â I’ll admit, it might be a little Austin-centric, but we’re based in the town, so get the Austin word a lot faster. Â Apologies to Houston and San Antonio, as your scenes weren’t represented, but it’s nothing personal. Â Feel free to leave us a comment to yell at us or tell us we were right on. Â But, that being said, remember this is just the OPINION of a few dudes keeping it real in Austin.
