The Painted Hands Share Drawn & Quartered

As of late, I’ve been delving into a big old pile of pop, and honestly, I’m totally cool with that, but digging the fact that The Painted Hands are here to blow my hair back a bit. They’ve got a pretty straight-forward approach here, sort of taking on that heavier brand of garage rock you’d get at a riotous punk show. It’s all about energy and push, though we hope you’re pushing with kindness if you’re running that circle pit around your local hood (and masked too!). This jam goes out to all the old folks like me who missed the 666th Oh Sees show at Hotel Vegas this past weekend. You can turn it up real loud, then be sure you sample the rest of the fun that the New Orleans have up their sleeve on their recent LP, Gloss!

If You Don’t Love This Song From Gloss, I H8 You

858197_491491817553534_1238138936_oYeah, I made it easier for us to share in hate.  First, I used text speak, which I abhor, so you can easily hate me.  Second, I came across this brilliant gem from Gloss from their upcoming Front Porch 7″.  What do I like about this tune? Hmm.  I like the gentle quality of the vocals.  I appreciate the crispness of the guitar playing throughout.  Oh, and no matter how many times I play it, it still sounds remarkable to me.  I’m going to play it for the rest of the day, and I’m going to be snarky about it. You can pick up the 7″ from Manic Pop right now…and don’t forget to browse their shop, as they have hits from Blooper and Austin’s Mini Dresses too!

New Jangle Pop from Gloss

It’s Friday, so I’m looking for upbeat tunes to whisk you away into the sunset, and I think this new tune from Gloss that I heard via IPSML is going to just the trick.  It’s just a one track single at this point, but it combines elements of our favorite jangling guitars with warm fuzz you’ll find from the likes of most gaze bands. The track is playful, yet there’s a lush quality that allows for the perfect amount of escapism.  Such are the tracks we all adore on a Friday, heading into relaxation mode for the weekend.
