Wand Want You to Jam It Out

wandoNeed a dosage of good rock n’ roll today? Then you’ll probably find yourself enjoying this new track from Wand…though there’s a more pleasant streak to this stomper.  The guitars knife in and out, though the distortion level is down in the mix, allowing for the vocals to cooly float their way into the tune.  That being said, you can hear just how rocking this track would be in the live setting, with plenty of space for the members to get their rock on.  You’ll actually have a chance to see it all come to fruition when the band goes on tour with Ty Segall this fall in support of their album, Ganglion Reef, which is hitting stores on August 26th via God? Records.

New Music from Jack Name

jacknameWe feel like kicking things off on Monday should start with a little bit of introspection, but a whole lot of grit, providing you with some energy to jump into the week with just the right amount of spirit; I think this jam from Jack Name will do just the trick.  It’s a lo-fi sort of affair, with sharp distorted guitars cutting in and out of the track.  You’ll find low-end vocals beneath the front of the mix, possibly hearing a bit of Frank Black affectation.  The project will be releasing Light Show on January 28th via God? Records, followed by a show that lands the band in Austin on February 8th.

David Novick Get’s Re-Released!

daveHopefully those who’ve kept their ears to the grindstone have heard of the beautiful music being created by David Novick.  If not, then you’re all in for a wonderful surprise when God? re-releases his self-titled debut.  For me, there are two parts that attract me to the song initially: the guitar playing and the quiet whispy vocals.  But, then you get a gentle horn that works its way into the song, and the cycle of musical transcendence is completed.  If you’re in need of something special on your Monday playlist, then I suggest you go no further than this song right here in front of you.
