Play That Reggae Music Max Romeo

maxromeoOkay, I did just spend the past 9 days hanging in the Caribbean, so perhaps I’m filled with that influence, but that soft spot for reggae in my heart makes this a vital track to jam on Friday. Max Romeo isn’t a new boy, in fact, he’s one of the few lasting survivors of the reggae scene that worked with Lee Perry back in his heyday. I think this new track from his forthcoming album is the perfect vibe, especially if you’re not too familiar with the genre. It holds onto a smooth vocal, almost a warming R&B tone, but the tune is so relaxed it’s hard not to just let the song wash over you, leaving the sun on your face. His new LP, Horror Zone, will hit on July 22nd.

A Little Reggae from Max Romeo

maxI’ve got a really soft spot for reggae, especially the classic sound. It’s one of the things I like to collect most, so I’m glad to see a new album from legendary Max Romeo; it doesn’t help that he grabbed some of the Upsetters crew to help record his new album, Horror Zone. From the sound of this single, it looks like Max is taking on the traditional sound, with a few of the modern recording techniques being thrown in to keep it absolutely relevant. My favorite thing about Max? He’s been making music on his own terms for 50 + years…and there few of those great artists left. Enjoy some good classic reggae.
