Slow Jammed Pop from Jons

The title of this new single from Jons is perfectly fitting; “Trips Ads” definitely works both sides of the trip coin…not that I have any experience. On one hand, the song takes these weird little journeys through the pop spectrum, offering up distant vocals through the clouds of oddly plodding chords. There’s this odd sensation when listening, as if you’re hazily walking through some tunnel or strange landscape, which is where the flipside of the “trip” comes in to play. The band’s new album, At Work on Several Things, is coming shortly, so keep your eyes on these here pages.

New (Old) Music from Jons

This is a great Monday track. You’re sitting there, looking back on the weekend, wondering how you got kicked into the working week so quickly, wishing for a bit of respite. So take on this Jons track, a sprawling bit of a ballad, coated in haunting vocal effects. But, my favorite reason for believing in the track comes right after the first 1.40 minute mark; up until then the track was mildly subdued, but just a slight pick up in spirit changes your outlook/emotions. You’ve got something to live for, something to long for…and the secret lives within this song. Solitaire Recordings will behelping the band out in the future, so keep your eyes peeled.
