Last Week’s Jams (10.6 – 10.10)

It was a fun week of super underground jams, though I made sure to throw in some bangers from Jay Som, Joyer and Radioactivity to kind of grab at the masses! I was really excited by the return of Hadda Be, as their new post-punk jam is opening up the playlist; I likewise was stoked to see Cistern drop new of their debut album too! Caught up late to KanKan and Pocket Full of Crumbs recent split 7″, so gave both some special love this week. Be sure that you power-pop fans check in on that Trash Man tune hanging out in the middle of the playlist, but really, not a track you’ll want to skip on this, so dig in!

Listen to Kan Kan’s Another Long Goodbye

The other day we dove into the latest track from Pocket Full of Crumbs, who just released a split with Kan Kan. But, I forgot to flip the 7″ over, which was my mistake, as there’s a definite tasty morsel awaiting your ears. On the tune below, it’s got that sort of solo J. Mascis feel to it, albeit with a touch more warmth on the guitar notes, sliding more into that melodic realm. Those guitars notes seem to kind of curl up and wrap themselves around the vocals, giving off this intimacy that’s surely going to seduce listeners sitting by the glowing embers of this tune. Their split 7″ is available now from Cherub Dream Records.

Circling Back to Pocket Full of Crumbs/Kan Kan Split

I’m not sure how I missed this, as Cherub Dream Records has been pretty consistent in uncovering acts that are blending all the perfect touches of punk and noise and modern indie. Recently they dropped this rad split from Pocket Full of Crumbs and Kan Kan, and the lead off single from the release is possibly one of the raddest songs I’ve had. There’s this punk rush to it, though it’s incorporating some of the noisier modern flare into the picture, all of it tethered to a gentleness that appeals to the masses. It’s just a straight ripper, and it will likely be playing on repeat all damned day long.
