After a week where I felt we left our visitors down, due to some musical gather in Austin, we came back with a vengeance this week. We repped some hometown heroes, announcing that Eastside Suicides would be reissuing their debut, along with a new tune from our friends in Blushing. Perennial site favorites Rural France and Red, Pinks and Purples made their usual appearance with fresh tunes for you. I loved new stuff from Winged Wheel and Yea-Ming and the Rumours. Honestly, I don’t think there’s a bad song in this playlist, which duh, we get to hand-pick what we cover. Press play and enjoy.

I missed out on the first single from the new Klaus Johann Grobe LP, but I’m definitely on board with what they’re putting down on this new single. In a sense, it’s an entirely different feel than their earlier stuff, as the press release alludes to. But, if you trace back their sounds, it feels like an elevated version of bossa-nova fused with sort of a twist on French pop; I think for all intents and purposes, it feels like an adult version of Phoenix. It’s subtly playful in all the right spots, but has this sublime sophistication that warrants head turns every step of the way. Really looking forward to hearing how the whole of lo tu il loro sounds like when it hits via Trouble in Mind on March 22nd.

12768329_955580437812643_5803637294415293664_oJust a few months ago we got a taste of new Klaus Johann Grobe via a nice little 7″…but the Swiss duo has quietly unleashed another single via their label, Trouble in Mind Records. There always seems like the band is pushed forth by an electronic pulse, but I think that, and this single, owes that feeling to the steady groove the band continues to put forth. I reckon you can lump this into the realm of progressive psychedelia, but it feels a little bit more space influenced, a little more focused on steady hands. Look for the group’s new album, Spagat der Liebe, on TiM on May 6th.

kjg_promo1 (1)Wow. Trouble In Mind should really have no problem selling this new 7″ they’re releasing from Klaus Johann Grobe, or maybe that’s just my opinion. But, imagine the crossroads where Peter Bjorn and John meet up with Stereolab, drawing upon a relaxing sensation of pop and electronic experimentation. In the end, this A-side sounds like the perfect lounge act for those of your friends with really good tastes, working with some killer harmonies that draw you in, no matter what language you speak. It’s just a feel good tune, particularly as I’m staring out my window at showering rains. Look for it in shops on December 4th.

LP.jkt.templateTrouble In Mind Records are really pumping out some interesting stuff these days.  They won me over already with the release of the Greg Ashley LP, and now they’ve got this new LP lined up from Swiss duo Klaus Johann Grobe.  Honestly, I don’t understand much of the lyrics, as they’re in another language, but the pulsating rhythm that’s being put forth is enticing for sure.  They even offer a nice bit of catchy hooks that come from those vocals, which also seem to be pushing the larger picture presented by the band.  You can grab their album Im Sinne der Zeit from the label on April 29th.
