Tan Cologne Share First Single

I’ve always been a fan of Lauren Green’s songwriting, whether that was as part of Mirror Travel or some of her solo work; she’s now teamed up with friend Marissa Macias to form Tan Cologne. The two met while hanging out in Taos, New Mexico, which fits into the narrative of this song in particular; it feels like driving through the roads of New Mexico, almost blurring the lines between the track’s sonic and visual approaches, drifting about with the ebbs and flows. The duo will be releasing their debut album, Cave Vaults on the Moon in New Mexico via Labrador Records (which, to me, is huge!). They’ve got a handful of shows in November, including a few Austin dates for Levitation.

Lauren Green and the Old is New

lrnMany of you are surely (hopefully) aware of Lauren Green, one of the lead songwriters behind Austin/New Mexico act, Mirror Travel. While she just released Cruise Deal (Mod Out) this last week, she also quietly released a few EPs over the last few years that may have gone unnoticed. That is unless you were Keeled Scales, who will be compiling her two EPs (Grape Perfume/Easy Spirits) into one great cassette for your listening pleasure. I put the latest of the two, Grape Perfume, below for you to sample, as I think it’s my favorite of the two. It’s great to see a different mindset and songwriting structure for someone we’ve listened to for so long. You can order the cassette right HERE…and stream one of the two EPs below.

Chilled Out Tunes from Lauren Green

I’ve really enjoyed the work of Austin band Follow That Bird, so when I found out that Lauren Green was stepping out from the band for a minute to record her own debut EP, Easy Spirits, I was interested to see where her own work would lead her.  Needless to say, I’m really stoked on this whole little EP; it’s got an entirely different feel, but one that you’ll definitely enjoy.
