Triathalon Share Drop Down Single

If you’re looking at hits this year, you’ve got to consider Triathalon‘s “Rip” as an ultimate contender; they aim to mix it up, however, on their latest single from the forthcoming Funeral Music LP, with “Down” taking a little bit of a tempo nod from the track’s title. Similar to the lead single from the record, this one’s brimming with these noisy little elemental guitars, though I’ll admit that in this presentation, they slink further into the background. Moving in this manner allows the vocals to kind of hang in their dreamy state, letting the notes reverberate in a cleaner fashion. All the while, you’re enthralled, as the beats in the distance capture your ear, continuing to build on the stranglehold Triathalon have on my listening rotation. Funeral Music hits on May 16th via Lex Records.

Triathalon Announces Funeral Music

Out of a period of heartbreak, hardship and ruminating on memorial service music, Triathalon have come out swinging for their new album, Funeral Music. Their balancing act between heavy riffs and gently whisper-sung vocals is absolutely perfect; they even use these screaming squalls of feedback to shoot across like sonic stars of noise that break through. It’s like a metal song, but with personality; take the twinkling little key notes and the ebb/flow of vocal tones and there’s this brilliant heavy pop song just hang out there perfectly. Each crest and crash just fills every inch of space with absolute power, and if I’m being honest, this might be the jam of the week…and we’re just getting started! The new LP is out May 16th via Lex Records.

zzzahara Shares In Your Head Video

Why not start off the day with a well executed bit of pop rock, like this jam from zzzahara. The new single has all the trademarks of current indie, dropping in a mixture of dreamy layers with bursts of feedback echoes, all of it setting up the huge hook that greets you when the chorus drops. In a sense, it reminds me of a cleaner Cherry Glazer, filled with this insatiable fire that breeds pop sensibilities, though here, they’re tightly contained by zzzahara’s smoothed out vocal delivery; this keeps the track’s tightness, so the tune never moves too far away from that little earworm. This tune appears on Spiral Your Way Out, which drops this Friday via Lex Records; it’s followed by a big old tour throughout the Spring across North America!
