Royal Headache Announce Live in America

While they’re no longer a working act, Royal Headache was a force to be reckoned with through their brief history and two LPs for What’s Your Rupture. Today, the band’s longtime label announce a Live in America LP, which collects two live performances and compiles them into one 17 track LP; the recordings were done at WFMU’s The Cherry Blossom Clinic and the Empty Bottle in Chicago. One of the bonuses of this release is that you get a few jams that didn’t make it onto proper recordings, like the soulful “So Low.” This track is a slow-burner, highlighting Shogun’s incredible vocals…serving as a reminder of how powerful his performances could be. Grab a partner, and swing them about in your arms and never let them go. Live in America will be out on June 21st!

Constant Follower Share Live Footage from National Wallace Monument

For some time, I’ve been singing the praises of Stephen McCall and Constant Follower; seeing the band perform in a church at SXSW was, well, spiritual, as we expected. Unfortunately, I didn’t see you all, so instead I’m really pleased to share some special live footage recorded at the National Wallace Monument in Scotland, featuring three songs from the excellent Neither Is, Nor Ever Was LP. McCall’s voice has this purity to it, as you’ll hear, seemingly ready to shatter into pieces the moment you reach out to touch it. As for the recording, there’s such patience in their togetherness, each note serving to carry the song’s lofty goals to near perfection. Take a listen, and be sure to go back and visit the LP, if you haven’t.
