One Last Malena Zavala Tune

Malena Zavala will be releasing her debut album, Aliso on April 13th, and we’ve got one last tune for you to enjoy before it drops. This song is striking in that it the first half of the song is a pretty barebones affair; careful notes hang in the ether while Zavala’s voice draws all your attention. But, as the song turns in its latter half, backing vocals and the lightest bit of percussion enter the picture, albeit just for a moment. Eventually the song evolves into a spacy fade out where Malena drops the chorus one final time for emphasis. A beautiful performance from a beautiful record; look for it in stores via Yucatan Records.

Another Track from Malena Zavala

A few months back I got a tune from Malena Zavala; I was taken aback, as it sounded familiar yet somehow different from like-minded artists. Malena has this incredible vocal power, drawing you in with a warm playfulness akin to Tracyanne Campbell, but then she’ll turn you on your head by belting out a few notes on the higher end of the voice spectrum. Plus, her ties to Latin vibes keep things interesting, giving a relaxed vibe to almost every note she spins. This track comes with the announcement that she’s gotten her debut Aliso ready for the masses; it drops on April 13th via Yucatan Records.

Have You Listened to Malena Zavala?

I’m loving the vibe of this new Malena Zavala track, and I’m hoping some of you will give her tunes some time. Her vocal notes during the verses are seemingly punctuated by pronounced guitar chords, but it’s the chorus that will likely win you over. It takes on that semi-angelic club hit style, airy and high in the mix. Still, when listening to this track on repeat, I marvel at the subdued vibe and the way there’s so much empty space; it really allows for that connection that makes slower vibes so meaningful. Anyways, keep an eye out on this one…something special brewing.
