After comparing Shady Cove to Wilson-Philips, I still can’t walk away from that comparison. But, what I can say is they’ve continued to take that dual vocal work and branch their sound into something that feels timeless. There’s a heavenly synth wash throughout this tone, the sort that you definitely notice, though it never detracts from the focus, especially when the guitar lines cascade and dance a bit in the mixture of swirling sonics. I do appreciate how they’re flirting with those of us with dreampop inclinations, yet they hold onto their own instincts, which keeps a little uniqueness in their craft.
