New Music from Mimi Raver

Mimi Raver has graced these pages before, and we’re back to cover her newest single…perhaps her best yet. Her voice is stunning, able to take on different pitches and tones that match the notes as they fold over one another in the song. I love how the vocals sit almost inside the musical mix, all working together in unison, rather than pushing the voice too far up. There’s a sensation of wandering in the writing, which fits the influences of different experiences and stories that led to the craft of her latest work. The album, 06′ Female, will be released this coming April.

Mimi Raver Readies New LP

While various styles of nostalgia are constantly being retooled, one that’s become more prominent in the last few years is that of the pop chanteuse, such as this new Mimi Raver. It sounds similar to the tones of Molly Burch or Angel Olsen, though the music behind her voice is akin to a modern experiment in trip-hop; the percussion sounds looped, and there are various layers atop of one another, creating a beautiful cacophony for Raver’s voice. She’s preparing for the release of 06′ Female, which is being released in April…this song being an ode to the female wolves in Yellowstone (of particular interest to this one-time YNP resident).
