Amy O Drops Her New Single

It feels like listening to Amy O should be required listening at this point in the album cycle for her new LP, especially when you consider the craft on this new jam. It begins with this sort of pop stutter, letting the groove blossom, so as to tie into the title (or so I like to think). Then, the track switches gears, delivering the vocal/guitar hook that makes Amy’s songs supremely repeatable; you’ll want to spin it over and over just to hear the way that little bop slides in beneath your listening radar. As she goes to the drawing board, she drops up the quiet, then the burst, but the burst in the second go round unfurls a bit taking on those dreamier tones that’ll have you looking to grab her new LP. Mirror, Reflect is out May 10th via Winspear.

Amy O Shares Early Days Single

If you’re looking for a repeat of “Dribble Dribble,” you might want to check your expectations at the door, as “Early Days” provides a different glimpse at Amy O‘s songwriting. Below, you’ll hear a track that opens up carefully, working with Amy’s vocals over a guitar picking that leaves plenty of space for the notes to resonate in the empty space that surrounds you. There’s certainly some textural notes behind the guitar and vocals, providing the necessary bulk that makes the track more than an average tune. Personally, I’m interested in sharing it with my wife, as the track details Oelsner’s mothering journey that began in the early stages of the pandemic, much like my family’s experience, so something we can all relish together…and share with our daughter. Mirror, Reflect is out via Winspear on May 10th.

New Amy O Single

Yesterday, Amy O. dropped this ridiculously tasty little track, and while it was all over the place, I couldn’t resist throwing my support behind it. Opening up in a bedroom-pop fashion, working with a snappy beat and a driving guitar line, you get that intimate listening experience that like-minded souls will find endearing. Then, at 1:31, the guitars drop into this fuzzy distorted wall, upping the level of the charm, perfectly embracing the promise and hope that Amy talks about in relation to her new record, Mirror, Reflect. Playful and bright, this single has me looking towards that LP; it’s out on May 10th via Winspear.
