Mo Troper Shares I Fall Into Her Arms

You’ve got to love short little ditties, and right on the heels of Tony Molina’s short pop song execution is Mo Troper. He’s announced MTV, his latest LP, and he’s done so with this tight little jangler, twisting these beautiful falling guitarmonies into heart-felt melodies. Mo’s voice on this go round feels a little more distinctive, but I think that adds to the charm, keeping a sort of lo-fi sensibility that allows all of us to maintain our cool, right? There’s a video version of the song HERE, but otherwise, you, like the rest of us, will have to wait until MTV drops on September 2nd via Lame-O Records.

I think I can finally clean out all my old emails from 2020 by sharing this Mo Troper tune, which honestly, I would have shared on its release at the end of December had we not been shut down for sanity’s sake. Mo’s got this great power pop feel of late; I love how he stretches his vocals to the tip top of his range, letting it ride on top of the mix as the guitars churn just beneath him. The song just feels like that shimmering sun warming you through your living room window as you gaze into the future; I feel like I could really use that right now. Check his last LP, Natural Beauty too, if you haven’t done so already!

With Mo Troper‘s Natural Beauty just on the horizon, he’s sharing another track to entice your ears. This one definitely feels like it’s got an old school emo sound to it, and mind you, I’m not knocking that at all. It reeks of emotion and intimacy, while still sounding powerful behind the burst of the guitar chords. I love the moment that begins with the line “when we were young” just at the 34 second mark; its just the perfect pop nugger to devour. Something about Mo just makes me happy; if you’re in the same boat, check out his new record Natural Beauty on Tender Loving Empire on February 14th.

Forgive me for expecting Mo Troper to continue crafting these hook-laden gritty rock numbers for his new album, Natural Beauty. It would seem that Mo’s completely flipped the script here, brandishing more of a penchant for pop than anything. The orchestration behind Troper’s songwriting has definitely added some great textural layers to this tune, but I’m still all about that chorus; I love the way his voice soars when he sings “when I was younger/it was fun.” This feels like one of those unexpected albums that you just fall in love with, trying to convince all your friends its the greatest things out there! Natural Beauty is out via Tender Loving Empire on February 14th.

I’ve been completely onboard with the first two Mo Troper LPs, so it only seems fitting to jump on board with his new one Natural Beauty, just announced on Friday. It’s clear through his growth that Mo’s intent upon banging out hook-laden pop songs, not too far off from where the early works of the New Pornographers dwelled. Even then, some of Troper’s devein-may-care attitude from his early days seeps through, which ends up sort of leaving you with this fuzzy guitar pop stomp that you’ll have spinning in your head for hours. Natural Beauty will be released by Tender Loving Empire on February 14th.

Ask and you shall receive, as we have another single from Mo Troper to share with you today. For me, this one definitely has a nostalgic late 90s rock vibe; the vocals build this tension that leads you to a slight change in tone as the chorus crashes down. More importantly, the band continues to show growth in the construction of their songs, as you’ll surely hear with the built in string section adding deep texture to the tune. It’s the kind of subtle touch that elevates the track from just a mere indie rock song. Look for Good Cheer Records to drop Exposure and Response on November 17th.

There are some artists you listen to on the reg, and your friends just look at you as if you’ve lost your mind. I felt like that with the early Mo Troper stuff, but I think you’re lost in the world if you can’t find anything redeemable in his new work. He’s got this distinctive voice, and while he stretches it here, it’s still quite endearing. Then take a ride on the pop sensibility he spins just at the 40 second mark, with the guitar blasting. Still, he knows how to pull it back into place, just teasing you with that emotional release. His new Exposure & Response LP will be released on November 17th via Good Cheer Records.

Mo Troper has been on our radar for some time, and we’re glad that he’s already prepping a brand new LP for us to devour. Honestly, I’m stuck with this track, and for some reason it has everything to do with the horns; I guess I’ve been stuck in a Beulah rut lately. Still, those that enjoyed the last effort from Mo might find a little bit more of a pop-centric focus here…moving away, however fleeting that may be, from the garage-ish influences. I loved that stuff, but this just sounds like there’s not a peer around…Mo has the floor now ladies and gentleman. Look for Exposure and Response via Good Cheer Records on November 17th.

Mo Troper Continues His Run of Hits

Just a few months after his well-received Beloved was released, Mo Troper is already back, this time releasing a collection of songs he’d written over the last five or so years. The album takes on themes of spending time with a person that makes you better just by their mere presence. This single blasts forth with huge riffs, with the hook hiding deep in the song’s core. It’s similar to the current emo fare, though I tend to dig this due to its lack of polish. Look for Mo Troper Gold on February 10th via Good Cheer Records.

Mo Troper Pushes New Single

moThere’s something special in Mo Troper and the tunes from his band. He borders on the edge of screeching in this tune, though it comes across in that captivating fashion that had me hooked on pop punk as a youngster. There’s hints of guitar pop throughout this track, but the vocals definitely win out for your attention. Just something so damn catchy about this track. He’ll be releasing Beloved on April 29th via Good Cheer Records, ready to give you a full dosage of rock n’ roll.
