Our friends The Midget Men are planning quite the party at Mohawk on Friday. The event is in celebration of the band’s 7 year anniversary and will sport a nice lineup of local and buzzworthy bands. The inside stage features Bankrupt & The Borrowers, The Frontier Brothers, Calm Blue Sea, and Mice & Rifles. Outside stage will showcase Deaf Ears, The Pons, and the obvious set by The Midget Men. Music kicks off at 9pm on the outside stage. Freeloaders take note, free PBR will be provided! Sounds like a tasty deal eh?

French Kicks @ Mohawk 4/18

Many moons ago, we told you about the covers EP(get it on itunes) put out recently by NYC band French Kicks. Well now the guys are making a much anticipated stop in town at Mohawk on Saturday night. Tickets are on sale now for $10 or you can pay $12 at the door. Young Mammals out of Houston and locals Low Line Caller will be opening things up around 9pm.

Ariel Pink @ Mohawk (4/10)

Ariel Pink is one of those artists who is fairly unpredictable when it comes to the live show and you never really know what the hell the guy is gonna do. Make your way out to Mohawk on Friday night to catch Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti along with blog hyped band Vivian Girls and opener Yellow Fever. If nothing else, Vivian girls proved by their SXSW sets that they can put on a decent show. Tickets for this show will be sold only at the door with music starting around 9:30.

Eef Barzelay has resurrected himself; both in the studio and onstage. After a 2 year hiatus under the moniker Clem Snide, Barzelay (joined by fellow “vaudeville hoofers” Brendan Fitzpatrick on bass and Ben Martin on the drum kit) now ooze coolness. After nearly two decades of a constantly rotating nucleus of band members ranging in sounds from post-punk to alt-country, Snide has outwardly got it right. Being big fans of Eef Barzelay/Clem Snide, we’ve been looking forward to this show at Mohawk Saturday night for quite some time now. The alt-country band will be joined by fellow ATH favorites The Broken West and opening act The Heligoats. Tickets are available now for $10 or $12 at the door. Music starts at 9pm.

SXSW In Pictures

To celebrate the release of their new Side A Ep, Austin band The Georgian Company are throwing a release party at Mohawk on Thursday night. The alt-country band will be joined by local heavy hitters Loxsly and opening act Leatherbag. Music starts on the inside stage at 10pm.

Quiet Company CD Release @ Mohawk (3/6)

Another local band worthy of your attention, Quiet Company, will be celebrating the release of their new LP Everyone You Love Will be Happy Soon at The Mohawk Friday evening. Joining the band for the the show are two other up and coming Austin acts Jets Under Fire & The Rocket Boys. Doors for this show open up at 9pm. As a bonus, Juno Award nominated band Plants and Animals will be playing the inside stage after Quiet Company wrap things up outside.
