Ah the tough decisions you must make living in Austin… If you aren’t a supporter of TV on the Radio, you’ve got another choice this stacked Thursday night. Magnolia Electric Co. will be making a stop at the Mohawk in Austin on Thursday as part of their rare tour of the US this fall. Another favorite artist of ours, Will Johnson (Centro-Matic), will be opening things up for the Stockholm band around 9:30 or 10. You can buy tickets now for only $8 or I’m sure you can get one at the door.
The Wedding Present will be providing one of many outstanding shows for the weekend. The band will be playing Friday night at The Mohawk in Austin with tickets on sale for only $10. If you read our recent review of the band’s latest effort, El Rey, you know we’re pumped about this one.

The Latin music festival known as Xemumba can best be summarized as an audio/visual extravaganza that takes hold of your senses and never lets go. One minute you’re sipping on a beer listening to the latest salsa coming out of Cuba, and then your running upstairs to watch the UT ballet folklorico cuttin’ a rug. Oh and then you have tasty South American treats to munch on, while watching a Spanish documentary made by local film makers. Xemumba even had opportunities to help out less fortunate young hispanic girls in the community. Not impressed yet? After the jump is a quick review of each band we saw on Friday at the festival with photos (Saturday unfortunately was postponed to a later date. We’ll of course let you know when the event is rescheduled).
After a brief tour with Coldplay, Shearwater will make their triumphant return to Austin this Thursday night at Mohawk (9/4). Tickets for the show are only $8 with things starting off at 9pm.
