Premiere: New Mumrunner Single

sputnikcover-900x900Something incredible always seems to pop out of Finland, and it’s usually through the hard work of the folks at Soliti Records; today we’ve got a new one from the label’s stable, Mumrunner. This tune walks the line between indiepop and dreamy indie, featuring feuding guitar lines and gentle vocals. There’s some nice little high-hat accents too, which shows the care the band put into the recording of this new track. You should definitely listen for the tension that builds just before the 2.5 minute mark, releasing a great wash of cascading pop beauty. Their new EP is titled Gentle Slopes and will see a release on September 9th worldwide.

Fresh Dream Pop from Mumrunner

mumrunnerYou’ve got to root for a band like Mumrunner, breaking out of the incredible, yet small, Finnish scene with their last EP. They return today with a great new song, bringing their A game. Those of the dream pop world will surely recognize the way the guitar knifes and dances around the track, creating an atmospheric realm for the listener to sit inside. Personally, I love how the group has a lot of restraint in the traditional sense of verse/chorus, instead letting their musicianship be on display throughout the track. Soliti will release this track later in the year on a new EP from the band.

Enjoy This Tasty Mumrunner Tune

solitiThe new Mumrunner hit my inbox a short while ago, and I’m happy to share one of the five songs offered on the extended play with you today.  There’s an immediacy that hits your ears right away with guitar lines and drums crashing into your eardrums, just before an airy vocal washes atop the track.  It identifies the band as something of an outlier, applying their trade as mixers of 2000s alternative and modern dream pop; usually you get one or the other, so this one is definitely refreshing. The Full Blossom EP will be ready for your ears in its entirety on May 15th, courtesy of Soliti Music.

Introducing: Mumrunner

mumsthewordThought I was pretty in with the Finnish scene, but Soliti always has to keep me on my toes.  They just tossed out this excellent single from Mumrunner today.  Honestly, this might be one of my favorite new things from the label in recent months; it’s got that swirling jangling guitar I love so well, but the vocals bring in a smoky male vocal, touched up by a nice female counterpart, and I’m in love. They’re polishing up the final touches on their newest EP, and I dare you not to immediately fall in love with this track.  I’ll keep you posted on the new EP…hopefully with a new song!
