Muuy Biien has been on our radar for some time, fed to us by one of our Athens connections. That being said, they’re taking on a new approach, at least in regards to their last few singles. There’s more creativity, playing on this track with a darkened tone over a piano backbone. In that, however, the band holds true to their past aesthetic, but loses some of the fuel and energy that made them so exciting…this is new territory. When Age of Uncertainty hits on October 28th, I get the feeling that we’ll get something refreshing from the band; it’s actually exciting to hear a band you love totally switch it up on you.

Muuy Biien es Muy Bueno

This past year at the annual Athens showcase during SXSW I finally caught Muuy Biien live, and boy did they ever deliver; they were one of my highlights of the entire festival. That being said, they return with a slightly different sound for their upcoming LP, Age of Uncertainty. Their spastic attitude has been traded for something calmer, though a wee bit more experimental in regards to their sound. It gives the band a steadier sound that I’m still attracted to, though I hope it doesn’t affect their live set as they settle into this new groove. Look out for the new record on October 28th via Autumn Tone Records.

Muuy Biien es Muy Bueno

Feel like we should start off our week with you on a bit of a rocking note, which brings us to this excellent track from Muuy Biien, an Atlanta outfit who’ve started to see their name pop up all over the place. For me, the bubbling bass work caught my ear first, but let’s not dismiss the power behind the shouted lyrics that burst through your speakers. HHBTM is going to be releasing the band’s new album, Do Yourself In, on APril 29th,and I’m getting the feeling that it’s going to kick us all in the teeth; I’m anxiously waiting that moment.
