Last Week’s Jams (5.20 – 5.24)

Sorry for being absent, but gotta take a day off when the government allows. Looking back at last week, we covered a ton of stuff, and I couldn’t even post it all, as there’s a few tracks missing from DSPs like the new Dennis Callaci/Heimito Kunst collaboration. But, my new flavor of the year, My Best Unbeaten Brother returned with a new tune, as did Oh Boland, so all sorts of really sweet pop made its way in here. Stoked to see there’s another Nightshift album coming out from Trouble In Mind later this year, thus you’ll hear that early in the mix. Somehow ended up with several great tunes stretching over 5 minutes, so if you’ve got time, be sure to not skip ahead! Bunch of tunes from your favorite ADHD curator! Also, if you’re on the site, be sure to check our friend Michael Maly’s photos from the recent Idles set here in town!

New Age Healers Share Radiate Video

Just recently, New Age Healers dropped their excellent The Spin Out LP, and I’ll admit that it got swept under the rug in a rush off all the other stuff that was popping off in a busy Spring season. But, they tossed me this new video from their latest single from the record, sort of as a reminder of the power that you’ll find within the tracks on the record. There’s something in Owen Murphy’s vocal performance that reminds me a lot of JAMC, particularly in the way Murphy’s breathiness comes through the speakers. In terms of the musical element, you’re getting more of a heavy psych rock feel, something akin to the Black Angels, dropping in a whole new level of heaviness. Why not start your morning off with a dose of jams!? The Spin Out is available now, and you can stream it HERE.

Last Week’s Jams, Today (7.25 – 7.29)

I don’t know if you guys noticed, but RayRay got a new gig, so he’s had tons more time to get some sweet jams up! It’s great, as we definitely have some crossover, but also our own styles, so our playlists are probably much more diverse! I mean, just last week he premiered new Mother Sun and Peter Matthew Bauer, while I was rocking the heck out of Almond Joy and The Smashing Times. I mean, there’s no winner, but you! We also were able to get some old friends on the pages with Why Bonnie and Cam Bina! So, happy Monday to us all!

New Age Healers Share Setting Sun

Seattle’s New Age Healers will be releasing Demolition Stories later this summer, thus they’ve got to get the singles out into the world, like the latest “Setting Sun.” On my listens, it fits perfectly into where my favorite jams take me; there’s this explorative nature to it, be that sort of psychedelic or what have you, almost like a space-age version of many of the current shoegaze/dreampop acts. The vocals are sedate, hiding quietly in the middle of the mix, careful not to overpower the listener, but melodically moving the track forward. You’ll be able to get your hands on the new LP come this August, so keep your ears out!
