I didn’t set out to include two lyric video pieces in my day, but when the gods ask for it, so it must be. All this to say, we’ve got our second lyric video today, this time around it comes from Ducks Ltd, who honestly sound like they’ve returned to their most infectious moments from their earliest days. The speed of the drum work on this tune is furious, with the jangling guitar lines struggling to keep pace. While that rush of speed hits you, the vocals hang just behind the beat, sort of billowing behind in the trails of the musical element. It’s a fun spritely pop jam, and I’m all here for it. Alpaca Sports Share Tribute to Soren Borjesson, Autograph

We only recently learned that Alpaca Sports would be back in the music making game. And, while I always appreciate their work, this new single comes with a bit of sadness, as the tune was hurried out to the world as a tribute to the Soren Borjesson, the Swedish football player whom the song adores. It’s a light number, almost lounge-oriented indiepop, playing with Andreas voice working over the lightest bit of synthetic ambiance and a strumming that seemingly disappears behind the percussive element. This song will appear on the new record, dropping in January via Elefant, but be on the lookout for another version on the horizon in November.

Wussy Share Sure as the Sun Single

Having a new Wussy single to share is a gift, especially when one considers what the band has been through. Through this, Chuck Cleaver is still trying to find solace in the world, such as this track. It’s an ode to trusting in the people around you, loved ones and friends, and maybe just neighbors; it’s about believing in them through mistakes and down times, “until they prove themselves unworthy.” All of this emotion is set to a dark folk march, rolling through the roads of America like an old Volkswagen commercial. This track appears on the group’s new LP, Cincinnati Ohio, which hits on November 15th via Shake It Records.

Greg Mendez Shares Alone Video

This is Greg Mendez‘s world, and we’re all just living in it, and gratefully so. Just recently he announced his singing to Dead Oceans, with plans of an EP and a Reissue of his S/T LP. Now, there’s a brand new single that completely breaks your heart, and there’s no way from avoiding it; you’re going to find yourself willingly driving head-on into this downpour of melodic emotion. Something about Greg’s voice just breaks you; you can hear it strain, while the strum of the strings reverberates in your speakers. That added vocal texture on the tune only deepens the appeal, making this new 7″ an absolute must have; it drops this Friday!

Hamburger Offer Quick Pop Ditty

Bristol pop rockers Hamburger have a new EP rearing to go before the year comes to a close, and why not give it a little love by sharing this grungy pop number. It opens with stretching vocals and a bounding bit of keyboard work, and then the hooks drop into the show. The guitars match up with the bounce of the piano, and you’re hit with a crunchy bit of grunge-pop, blasting you with this melodic powerhouse before receding back to where they came from. Beat Back the Ghouls is going to offer up a lot of joy when it hits on November 29th, courtesy of the fine people over at Specialist Subject Records.

Icarus Phoenix Shares Homeostasis

We’re barely removed from Icarus Phoenix latest release, I Should Have Known the Things You Never Said, and it seems like there were just too many ideas for Drew Danbury and company to cram into that LP, as “Homeostasis” is a playful little number that didn’t quite make the cut, or perhaps is meant for a story down the line. It’s a short number, but there’s almost a natural hop to the construction, letting Drew swing his vocals up and down through the tune, sort of like he’s spinning you and serenading you right in the middle of your living room. There’s a nice little acoustic version accompanying this new single, as we get a peek inside where the story began.

Swansea Sound Share Toxic Energy Single

The Swansea Sound/Heavenly team have apparently arrived on US shores, and with that, they bring a fresh new single primed for morning listening rotation. In this song, the band has pitted Terry Hall (played by Hue) against Elon Musk (played by Amelia); Terry pushes the punk ethos that cranks up the sonic energy, while Elon plays the foil, almost taunting him with this incredible pop structure. They trade musical barbs back and forth, with the song infused by the group’s balance between their love of pop and punk…not to mention their political values, or rather just human values. Plus, the video’s perfect, and no cyber truck was purchased in the making of the video. Even though I begged them to come to Austin, you can only catch them on the West Coast this week; tonight in Olympia!

Waves of Dread Release The Tide

For the better part of the last few years, Waves of Dread consistently tossed great new noise rock our way, but it’s been a minute, or a year rather, since they dropped new stuff. All that’s out the window with their new EP and lead single “The Tide” now out in the world. Several of the new tunes, like the one below, are fairly short, all things considered, so it’s a little bit of a focused move towards the group’s pop focus, though they still adhere to the noisier elements that got them here. This release indicates that the group are toying with some new vibes, so we’ll keep you posted, as we hope there’s more on the way!

JW Francis Shares Feel It + Drops Sunshine

You’re possibly browsing the net, looking for something to download and enjoy today, so might I suggest this new JW Francis tune. While some of the tracks on his brand new record, Sunshine, embrace a more pensive fashion, this single’s an absolute joy; it reminds me of a poppier version of the Strokes (or just their last LP as a whole). There’s a stomping nature to the rhythm section, driving the song forward and encouraging the listener to release their inhibitions, riding out with the rhythm and the wind at their back. Capitol Release Twenty-Eight in Drag

You’re going to have a hard time not getting swept up in the energetic opening of the new Capitol track; the rhythm section kick things off with some snappy grooves before the tune pulls back to deliver the verses. They bring up a bit of synth wash to set the mood, let the vocals sway within the confines of the ambiance. While they offer a lot of punch in this tune, there’s a middling section where it’s almost all about the emotional feel of the track, filling a breakdown with these shimmering keyboard notes that stay in the picture to add texture to what’s on the surface. The group drop Sounds Like a Place on November 8th via Meritorio Records.
