Sometimes, the best rock n’ roll pushes back, forces you to adjust, then rewards you for taking risks, and that sums up the approach from Force Model on their latest single. They open the tune with these discordant bits of post-hardcore, not too far a cry from where many a Texas act traveled in the 90s. But, a stuttered drum sets up a plot twist, turning the track towards a melodic soar; the chords circulate before they get yanked back into a propulsive beat that encourages toe-tapping whilst still on the edge of aggressiveness. While they may have flirted with an abrasive brand of 90s rock, they quickly settle into this memorable bit of guitar pop charms that has me focused on what they’ll do next!
