Cistern Share Pendulum Single

The lads in Cistern aren’t wasting any time in their songwriting process, which I quite appreciate; they released Head Full of Questions barely a year ago, and now they’ve announced New Standard, a fresh LP due in November. They offer up an angular post-punk nod here, though there’s a lot of energy, where the song almost seems to move beyond the punk boundaries into other territories, hitting the highest notes with punches of energy, only to tug it all back for a little breakdown…then they rush right back off for their buoyant rush of blood, swinging in full fashion, much like you’d expect from a pendulum. Look for New Standard via Meat Machine on November 22nd.

New Electronic Jam from Auragraph

I don’t know whether it happens to just be one of the few electronic artists whose emails make it my way, or whether it’s Auragraph channeling some of the beats from my childhood, but whatever the case, I’m always enjoying the stuff he’s putting out. There’s a new single out there that definitely harkens to some of the pop hits of my 80s days, getting tapes at the grocery store; it is a bit different as he’s using it to create soundscapes and atmosphere, as opposed as serving as the backbone to pop hooks. That said, there’s still that pulsing rhythm and magical bounce that just gives your day the perfect kickstart. Plus, there’s a little foggy atmosphere hovering in spots, in case you want to call it electro-dream. New Standard drops on November 17th via Dais Records.

Cool Vibes from Auragraph

I spend my day surrounded by 13 year olds, so pardon me if I ask for your vibe check here, but I think either way, your day can’t be harmed by Auragraph. The artist behind the project, Carlos Ramirez, employed a lot more improvisation on this new record, and we’re definitely going to get some late night groove benefits from this one. You can feel the pulse, accented by this chiming cymbal sample and hollowed drum rattle that give this industrial feel to the dancefloor. If you’re willing to drop your pretension, perhaps you’ll want to spend some time with New Standard; it hits on November 17th via Dais Records.
