Travel Back in Time with the Bomb

bombaThere are certain sounds that all of us as music listeners associate with great times in our life.  No matter what happens in our life, we can always place certain sounds with certain parts of our life.  That’s precisely what happens when I listen to this new single from The Bomb; it’s got a little bit of that anthemic punk rock, yet it also has sort of a late-Jawbreaker feel to it (so 97-98 in my life). No Idea Records will release the band’s Axis of Awesome EP on a really special coke-bottle colored vinyl on March 17th…so pre-order it so that it’s at your doorstep when you get back from SXSW.

New Single from Sunshine State

sunshineThere are certain styles of music that just make you nostalgic.  Listening to this new single from Sunshine State, I’m transported to the late 90s/early 00s when Jets to Brazil and like-minded acts dominated much of my music rotation.  There’s that same scratchy vocal here in this number, though the path towards pop sensibility is what really reminds threw me back in time.  The group has signed on with No Idea Records to release their newest album Pour; it should be in your favorite local record store on September 23rd.

Tim Version Release New LP with No Idea Records

timversionI’ve got a soft spot for old school style rock n’ roll that borders on the edges of punk rock.  There’s a gruffness to the vocals on this new single form The Tim Version, which reminds me of folks like Chuck Ragan who went a softer route after years in the hardcore world.  Musically, there’s that classic bar rock sound, with just a hint of pop thrown in; it’s the sort of guitar play that has gone on the make bands like Hold Steady and the Replacements house hold names.  This single will feature on the band’s new record, Ordinary Life, which has a release date of August 12th via No Idea Records.
