New Song and Video from The Coathangers

On February 10th, The Coathangers will blast into Austin to continue their musical assault on the masses. We’re likely to get a great deal of tracks from their excellent Nosebleed Weekend, which came out last year, but the ladies have just done a video for a brand new song that we’re sharing with you today. I love this track, as it celebrates the energy that drew me to the band during that one year I caught them 7 times during SXSW. It’s raw and gritty, yet there’s a slightly soft underbelly when Julia changes her delivery of “parasite.” Check the live video, and look for the band to hit your city as they’re tour encompasses the whole of the land…their Austin gig is at Barracuda next Friday.

Another Day, Another Chance to Rave About the Coathangers

coatsJust a reminder, I’m probably Austin’s biggest Coathangers fanboy. Watch the “making of” video on their new album, saw them six times in one SXSW…and own every little bit of music they’ve released. So, with Nosebleed Weekend, their newest album, a little over a few months away, I’ve still got time to rave on and on about the band. This week we get a chance to hear the band’s title track from the record, a slow burning bit of rock n’ roll to ease the soul. Like their last album, there’s lots of differentiation, switching singers, paces and styles…so love this song, and wait to see what they bring you next. Suicide Squeeze Records will release it on April 15th.

The Coathangers Are Back w/ a New Album

CoathangersIn case you haven’t noticed for the last several years, I’m a pretty huge fanboy when it comes to Coathangers. So, I’m ecstatic that there’s brand new Coathangers music for me to consume and fawn all over (though they did just do a split). But, here you have Stephanie (or Rusty Coathanger) offering up her scratchy growl, in the most intoxicating fashion. Since the girls have stripped down to a three-piece, they’re songs have become so incredibly tight as a unit, that it’s hard not to just fall for each piece they write. Their new effort is titled Nosebleed Weekend, and it’s out on April 15th via Suicide Squeeze Records.
