Last Week’s Jams (5.19 – 5.23)

I felt like I didn’t manage to crush it as much as I prefer, but in that, we still managed to get at least 20 rad tunes for you to digest, all of which you can hear in the spot below. RayRay got up the latest from Hotline TNT, and we hung with the masses in there, dropping jams from Winter, TAGABOW and the likes…but don’t you worry, we still dug into a little bit of the obscure. I was super stoked to hear that Wombo has a new LP for Fire Talk, and even more so to dig into a little more of the dub vibes from Pachyman. Plus, we premiered the “Clown Car” video from Lung, which you can read about HERE. If that’s not your jam, I’m sure you’ll find plenty to adore below.

Ok Cool Announce Debut LP

I have been missing really solid female pop rock, akin to my personal favorite Weakened Friends…they’re currently on the road (no Austin show?!), so OK Cool get to fill my need! The band announce their debut LP today, and do it with a classic pop rock fashion, though I love them the most when they really stretch the vocals to their most guttural intentions. In the recording process for their debut, they kept the production to themselves, which gave them complete control to bridge the melodic moments with the aforementioned bite, leaving us with these hook-laden rockers. tThey’ll release Chit Chat on August 1st, and hopefully hit the road with an Austin date!

More Music from Catch Prichard

There’s something really special in Catch Prichard‘s voice, something that haunts and soothes the soul simultaneously. Perhaps it’s the deep tones, but the breathy quality of the recording adds a layer of mystique that I quite enjoy. Musically, there’s such simplicity in what he’s doing, yet so much purpose in the added textures, be it a wash of atmospherics or a tinkering piano that just barely pops its head into the mix. This is the sort of song that stays with you forever, and we’re soon to hear more when Catch releases his latest collection of songs, OK Cool.

Catch Prichard Offers New Ballad

There’s something beautifully haunting in Catch Prichard‘s performance on this new ballad he’s penned. He’s set up the background perfectly, utilizing distant horns and careful guitar picking to create the perfect space for the deep tones of his voice. A slight warble in his throat, he comes off as a cross between Jeff Buckley and Antony, leaving you with this enchanting number that won’t fade from your listening memory. This song will featured on the collection of new work titled OK Cool, which is slated for release later this year.
