Hopefully you got wind of the latest Horsegirl single yesterday when all the big sites hit us with it, but admittedly, I’m in love with this record, and am just going to post every track that I can. This one peels back some of the energy of their earlier singles from Phonetics On and On, but it also illustrates that they’ve mastered simplicity in every corner of the album, as even more intimate songs offer up layers of brilliance you won’t be able to escape. If you haven’t already gotten on the Horsegirl train, do so before the new record drops this Friday via Matador Records.

Horsegirl’s Switch Over Video

If there’s going to be a consensus album of the year contender this early on in 2025, it’s gotta be the forthcoming LP from Horsegirl, right? I mean, every single has been consistently brilliant, and this new one just settles in right alongside that, kind of building up this sort of post-Electrelane brilliance; if you listen to the harmonizing amongst the trio, you’ll be transported back to the genius of No Shouts No Calls. Still, this sounds fresh, and even my nostalgic looking-glasses can’t shade the fact that this might be one of the best acts around. It takes absolute magic to build songs this infectious and simultaneously challenging, and I can’t stop playing this one. Phonetics On and On will be out February 14th via Matador.

Horsegirl Share Julie Single

Not sure I had Horsegirl penciled in on my calendar as delivering the knockout record of 2025, but here it is, and I’m definitely going to stand by this being one of the strongest LPs we’ll hear next year. “Julie” is another settled portrayal of a band locked into crafting their sound, building their songs with an absolute purpose; I keep thinking they’re going to explode at any given turn, yet their restraint just illustrates how carefully they’ve evolved on this LP. Don’t get me wrong, there’s not an absence of art of energy, but rather this beautiful experience that, like me, you’ll want to share with your nearest and dearest music nerds. Phonetics On and On is out on February 14th via Matador.

Horsegirl Share 2468 Video + Announce New Album

This track and news will likely blow up in about ten minutes, so I just wanted to make sure we had it up. Horsegirl have been on a hot streak, and this new single is so playful and steadying, that you’re really going to find yourself stuck in this infectious loop…though I don’t think you’ll mind once you press play. Looks like they’re playing with syllables and such on their new LP, Phonetics On and On, which will be released by Matador Records on Valentine’s Day. This band rips and that’s really all you need to know.
