Pinch Points Share Haruspex

With their new album Process on next week’s horizon, we’ve got to be sure you’ve put Pinch Points on your radar before we inundate you with SXSW propaganda. When “Haruspex” kicks on, you get this post-punk sermon, with the band throwing out these wriggling guitar lines and emphatic vocal shouts; it feels like you’re being made to squirm beneath their message, squashing their message into your soul as the rhythm section stomps. There’s a slight uptick in the energy midway through, with the vocals holding tight to the mantra. If you’re digging, Process is out March 18th via Exploding in Sound.

Last Week’s Jams, Today (2.7 – 2.11)

Jumping into this week by looking back at last week, in the most uncool fashion, using a Spotify playlist; the world’s probably going to stop dead right there. But, last week had some rad tunes, with friends Half Dream and Squiggles both jumping in with new tunes for us. Plus, we got to revisit some recents releases from Tat Songs and The High Water Marks. And ultimately, got to meet some new faces, at least to me, like Sooner and Erasers. But, I’m starting it off with that super rad Pachyman jam, so sit back and get grooving into your Monday.

Pinch Points Drop Am I Okay Single

The Aussie scene’s been quieter than usual, with only the Partner Look LP coming to mind as heavy rotation pieces over here, so I’m glad Melbourne’s Pinch Points have this rad little single to share from their forthcoming LP. In this song, you get a nice little rolling indie rock feel, sort of like the low tides nipping at your ankles as you walk along the beach. I love the dual vocal approach, matching the emphatic notes together as the song punches along. Lyrically, you’re not going to find a more apt tune today, or for the next few years, with the song hopefully reminding us all just to breathe, let the world move around you and just take care of yourself…sometimes we need a reminder. The band drop Process on March 18th via Exploding in Sound/Misteltone Records.

Pinch Points Drop Debut EP

Recently stumbled across this brand new Pinch Points EP, and its stuck with me ever since. The Melbourne based four piece plays that sort of proto-punk that has you stuck between a solid bedroom pogo and a circle pit. The whole EP is sharp as nails, with standout “Jellybrain” sure to have you coming back to the band for more. Plus, there’s a slight political undercurrent, though not overdone, so you can go merrily on your way without grasping at the message, if you so choose. The Mechanical Injury EP is available now, and streaming below!
